Unfortunately, the Wisconsin Department of Corrections has banned WBTP from sending books to people in their custody. With ironic timing, they announced this just a few weeks before Prison Banned Books Week!

Remember "Oxygen Bars"? My household does. We searched it up, and they are re-emerging in the suburbs in the Chicago area. These things used to be in malls everywhere before the respiratory virus pandemic hit. It seems the subrubanites really need that kick of sharing the respiratory equipment during a contagion to start their day.

help me identify this cactus
for reasons, i developed a kind of hyperfixation on plants around half a year ago. as such, i'd like to take better care of this cactus i was gifted in 2017 or so.
the only love i gave it so far was a bit of water whenever it occurred to me that plants do in fact need that to live, which was every couple of months. can any of you botany enthusiasts out there tell me what species this is? also, why is one of the branches so brown and shriveled? should i repot it and, if yes, what pot size and substrate? feel free to infodump, i'd love to learn! :3

Last year the NYPD spent $150 Million to catch people who weren't able to afford to pay the subway fare. They collectively owed just $104,000 in fares.

like I'm pretty sure skibidi toilet is its own thing, for example, but "no cap" is an Atlanta hiphop thing, "slay" originated in Black/Latinx queer ball culture, "queen" is most likely a clipping of "drag queen" ... like, this is literally what cultural appropriation is: getting elevated for doing things that would get marginalized people punished.

ICYMI, my partner @nullagent was assaulted last night protesting at a #Seattle City Council member's home over the anti-homeless/anti-SW legislation that's underway.
He's heading over to urgent care now to get a full assessment, and possible stitches for the head wound.
We are getting some extra help at home this week, but he REALLY needs to rest up and take it easy while he recovers.
