new thing I want badly
I want one of these https://lilygo.cc/products/t-embed-cc1101
flashed with https://capibarazero.com/
for NFC tag cloning and infrared database signal replay for TVs, etc.
Is it worth it for that? Anyone else using something like this?
"AI ready" hardware hype nonsense
@hazelnot I don't see how a corp would be willing to let go of their AI assets for local usage unless there is a catch, like DRM of some kind...

@hazelnot absurd that people are driven to buy new hardware so they can *checks notes* query someone else's generative AI model as a service? It just, doesn't depend on your machine's performance at all because that implies corporations would willingly share their models.
@MordecaiMartin there are some safety applications for machine learning image classification in control systems (like automated obstacle avoidance, or brake failsafe activation). With the caveat that responsible implementations must have actual verification layered atop it (unlike current "self-driving" crap).
LLMs are basically entirely useless and just make more problems than they can solve.
re: math, long, what
@VegaHarmonia perhaps occasionally on a few conditions...
more rambling re: Long rambling about filesystems. Contains opinions.
@algernon I like breaking things frequently, so grub-btrfs configured to boot pre and post upgrade transaction snapshots has become standard on my personal machines. However maybe the benefits would be more debatable if I used something like NixOS as you will be doing. (I'm too unfamiliar).
That all said, I only switched off LVM and ext4 last year and I am surprised btrfs 'won' the poll. I would have suspected that weariness to adopt new things, fear of btrfs scrub, and superstition would make it fare less in a poll. I mean- storage pools are cool, but there still isn't stable support for certain raid configurations after years. I'm curious what the biggest draw is for the average poller? I hardly make use of many actual btrfs selling-point features aside from the 'free' thin provisioned VM storage allocation, and VM cloning.

If you hate stoners just dni. I am also a trans woman so I *checks notes* meme about femininity and feminization sometimes. After dark account at: @thufieplus but read my bio there before sending a follow request even if we are already mutuals here. Oh and just to be clear because I think I see other white people on here trying to fake not being white under a bunch of other text, I'm just a disoriented white girl trying her best.
