God I really hope all the people saying stuff like "well in the future you don't be able to buy new hardware without it having "AI" acceleration so you'll be stuck on old hardware forever if you refuse to use it" are wrong and it's just a bubble cause like

In case society doesn't just collapse soon I would hate to be stuck on 2019-era hardware for the rest of my life and never be able to play any new video games :<

Someone even said games might end up transitioning to being mostly rendered by "neural chips" instead of the current techniques which, uhhhhh, I really hope doesn't happen cause what the fuck 💀

"AI ready" hardware hype nonsense

@hazelnot absurd that people are driven to buy new hardware so they can *checks notes* query someone else's generative AI model as a service? It just, doesn't depend on your machine's performance at all because that implies corporations would willingly share their models.

"AI ready" hardware hype nonsense

@thufie I think the idea is that it will all happen on your card, and I've seen people talk about how the "AI chips" are basically just math coprocessors which do affect performed in other ways but ehhh

"AI ready" hardware hype nonsense

@hazelnot I don't see how a corp would be willing to let go of their AI assets for local usage unless there is a catch, like DRM of some kind...
