maybe the reason computers are so frustrating is somewhat due to the exploitative manufacturing practices (angry energy)

US Border agents just shot two people in Portland, Oregon today.

It's almost as if they are intentionally trying to desensitize us to their violence, to make us accept that they will kill whoever they want, whenever they want.

But if we do that, things will only get worse.

All around the country, we must flood the streets to show that we will not be intimidated. We have to build the capacity to defend our communities from the murderers and kidnappers in ICE. How we rise to this challenge will determine the future for all of us.

Smash ICE.

what the fuck do you mean Harvard is called that because of a guy named John Harvard. I'm living in a cartoon

"consumers aren't buying based on AI” is demonstrably untrue, because i am a consumer, and i buy based on AI. i see a product uses AI and i choose something else

I remember when Bruce Schneier had a reputable security blog and talked about exploits and botnets in detail. I stopped reading a while back (can't remember how long ago) and it has devolved into some AI policy-wonk bullshit by a white dude that doesn't even use the word "bias" anywhere. Nor actually relavant security coverage! Pathetic.

At least Krebs still actually talks about security topics so I guess I'll be going to his blog instead.

Inside ICE’s Tool to Monitor Phones in Entire Neighborhoods

404 Media has obtained material that explains how Tangles and Webloc, two surveillance systems ICE recently purchased, work. Webloc can track phones without a warrant and follow their owners home or to their employer.

Mario was recently detained by ICE and is being held at a detention center. He has a hearing on January 13th, and his lawyer is asking for $5,000 up front to represent him.

What really irritates me are the arguments against federated networks that boil down to "but you need to trust some rando and you don't know their intentions" and then go on to suggest as the alternative some tech company's centralized platform instead, even though that tech company is fundamentally also just "some rando" except now it's certain that their intentions are malicious
