Japanese researchers develop peptide preventing #COVID19 infections

> they have developed a peptide that can bind to the spike proteins of #SARSCoV2 to prevent COVID-19 infections. ... The peptide can be stored in powder form at room temperature and be administered to patients through inhalation by dissolving it in physiological saline and converting it into a fine spray using a nebulizer.

URGENT: Bastion needs your help!

Hello all, this is Bastion's husband, Krechevskoy.

Bastion has been detained by ICE while entering the US. They are scared and alone, and they need your help.

Please, if you can spare even a small amount or share this link, it would mean the world to us.

Remembering how Greta Thunberg was immediately called an antisemite for holding a cute octopus doll on a photo in 2023.

Yet Elon Musk doing a full on sieg heil twice is reported as just "Meh, who knows", despite his documented history of repeatedly flirting with the far right.

Funny how that works lately, almost like accusations of antisemitism have been weaponised to silence those who speak up to power.

Sabot in the Age of AI

Here is a curated list of strategies, offensive methods, and tactics for (algorithmic) sabotage, disruption, and deliberate poisoning.

🔻 iocaine
The deadliest AI poison—iocaine generates garbage rather than slowing crawlers.
🔗 git.madhouse-project.org/alger

🔻 Nepenthes
A tarpit designed to catch web crawlers, especially those scraping for LLMs. It devours anything that gets too close. @aaron
🔗 zadzmo.org/code/nepenthes/

🔻 Quixotic
Feeds fake content to bots and robots.txt-ignoring #LLM scrapers. @marcusb
🔗 marcusb.org/hacks/quixotic.htm

🔻 Poison the WeLLMs
A reverse-proxy that serves diassociated-press style reimaginings of your upstream pages, poisoning any LLMs that scrape your content. @mike
🔗 codeberg.org/MikeCoats/poison-

🔻 Django-llm-poison
A django app that poisons content when served to #AI bots. @Fingel
🔗 github.com/Fingel/django-llm-p

🔻 KonterfAI
A model poisoner that generates nonsense content to degenerate LLMs.

Researchers find a protein in the hemolymph (analogous to blood) of Australian oysters which has antimicrobial properties, including against biofilms of Streptococcus pneumoniae, a common cause of pneumonia. The oysters likely evolved the peptide to help prevent infection by similar microbes, and the discovery could help down the road in the development of antibiotics and antiseptics useful to humans! #clamFacts

Timberborn is fucking awesome. I love beavers.

⚠️ Boosts appreciated, urgent! ⚠️

UPDATE 2: Please don’t boost anymore for the time being, they’ve got a stable spot atm! Thank you for your help!

Boston furries, can you please reach out if you've got space for a friend for a couple of days?

They got SA'd while at ANE and got kicked out from their home. They're not in a good spot rn and really need somewhere to crash.

Please boost!

UPDATE: we have a spot for a night or two. Leaving this post up in case they still need longer term accomodations

ROFLMAO.

Claude decided to crawl one of the sites on my new server, where known bots are redirected to an iocaine maze. Claude has been in the maze for 13k requests so far, over the course of 30 minutes.

I will need to fine tune the rate limiting, because it didn't hit any rate limits - it scanned using 902 different client IPs. So simply rate limiting by IP doesn't fly. I'll rate limit by (possibly normalized) agent (they all used the same UA).

Over the course of this 30 minutes, it downloaded about ~300 times less data than if I would've let it scrape the real thing, and each request took about the tenth of the time to serve than the real thing would have. So I saved bandwidth, saved processing time, likely saved RAM too, and served garbage to Claude.

Job well done.

Had a dream recently that there was a new mode of agda called "purple agda", and it was this string diagram proof assistant thing with some absolutely wild unicode ligatures to represent the string diagram aspect. And the lines of the string diagram were colored purple, hence the name. I made a mock-up of what it sorta looked like, and I remember just being horrified when thinking about how you would even write or edit a program in this mode lmao

I dindt know the science diversity gorilla from future was in a book called 1984 I wonder if Blizzard knows

Youngest Child misspoke "Death Boyardee" and that sounds like a great metal band name.

Hi #Chicago neighbors! As you probably already know, we are expecting sub-zero temperatures early next week. Edgewater #MutualAid Network will be connecting unhoused people in our area with temporary shelter. We are $400 away from our goal of $2700 to provide several unhoused neighbors with hotel rooms during these freezing cold nights. Every little bit helps! Funds beyond our goal will help us provide cold weather gear, OTC medication, and other necessities.
