First, consider your costs of printing/copying ▶️ I use the printer at my job, so that's $0.00
Second, consider how much your paper costs. ▶️ When I'm not using my job's plain copy paper, or finding other free paper, I get broken packages from a store that sells paper for approx $5 an inch. An inch is about 150 sheets, so that's $0.03 for each color cover sheet
Finally, consider your time spent on creating the zine and assembling copies. ▶️ For me, I enjoy both of these things, and also have another job, so the amount I need to charge to get by is $0.00
💸 This comes to a total of $0.03 per zine. However, since I like to get money to give to local mutual aid groups and also the occasional ice cream, I'm going to make these zines FREE OR PAY-WHAT-YOU-WANT, knowing that some people will give money and I will probably make more money this way and reach a wider audience than if I charged several dollars.

I think it's what it means that's the issue.
When a cis man's clothes indicate he has a penis, it means nothing.
When mine, a trans woman's, do - it's automatically angry, sexual, a Statement. Political. It needs to be some of those things. I have some say in how I sell it, but those are my options at the best of times. Deviant or defiant.
Yes, even to cis people who are allies and know I'm a woman. They may accept my reasons for having a dick, but I need reasons. And often Reasons. Even if they'll react with "you go, girl", I need to put out a message for them to react to. Be it meek or brave.
Cis men don't.
I don't mind being the Angry Trans. But I hate that I have to be some kind of consciously chosen kind of trans.
