@elilla here there is a proud tradition of authoritarian communist orgs invariably becoming newspaper sales organizations that roleplay inspiring the working class as vanguards. I think it is connected with how certain journalists here conceptualize themselves as public servants. It varies though, there was more of the 'let's march with bald men on red banners' crowd whenever I was near Austin, Texas for a long time.
