#whatsapp the messaging app by #meta is working on showing you ads, well I've been seeing articles that mention this.
They claim not to know what you're messaging, as it's all end to end encrypted !
But in order to serve you ads which I absolutely hate !! this is what's happening !!!
Last night I happened to look at my notifications, when I noticed that #whatsapp just finished downloading 2 files.
This wasn't shown at the top of the screen, but hiding in my notification history !! Sneakily installing !! Grrrrr
2 Files :
ML model : Tokenizer
and
ML Model : Sentence Embedding
ML stands for machine learning.
The Tokenizer (1st file) is a tool that breaks down raw text into smaller pieces, called tokens, which can be processed by Machine Learning models.
Machine Learning models require the raw data (images, text, audio) from the above tokens and convert them into complex vectors called Sentence Embedding (2nd file) that ML models can effectively understand.
So basically !!!
#whatsapp doesn't know what you're talking about as its all end to end encrypted, haha BIG joke !!
But they know very accurately what's being said, as everything is being analyzed locally on your phone, before it's encrypted and send to your other party.
Now they know what's being said they can start serving you ads from which they make their money, #meta that is, the owner of #whatsapp .
So be prepared to uninstall I would say !!!!
Cheers
Enjoy the rest if your day 🙂
I was on some email subscription for an author. His latest email announced he had two new “full cast” audiobooks of his published work. Audiobooks narrated by different ai generated voices.
I unsubscribed immediately and let him know that was why.
He emailed me back to say “well actually, I couldn’t afford audiobooks any other way, because voice actors are expensive, and it’s not destroying jobs because voice actors can license their voices to the ai companies so they can get paid, and they can get paid for way more audiobooks than they can actually record this way”
And so I marked the email as spam.
On June 28, 1969, police raided the #StonewallInn, a New York City bar that welcomed the most marginalized members of the fledgling queer "community": young, poor, and #BIPOC #LGBTQ+ people.
Fed up with being on the receiving end of state violence, drag performers, trans and gender nonconforming people, homeless youth, and queer people of color fought back.
The scuffle became a weeklong riot and marked a pivotal turning point in the movement for LGBTQ+ rights in the United States.
“You don’t have to wear a mask here”
Ever since hospitals dropped mandates, healthcare workers have been pressuring patients to remove their mask.
They say it’s not needed, it’s safe, “you won’t get covid here”
I watched this happen in a high risk cardiac clinic recently
I was wearing my N99 like I always do, and wasn’t willing to take it off.
I’m used to the questions, eye rolls and stares. I’m confident enough to tell them that my mask won’t be removed for any reason.
But what about those who aren’t as informed?
An elderly woman entered the clinic just after me.
She was wearing the hospital provided surgical mask.
She was trying to protect herself.
They told her “you don’t need that”. She looked confused. Why would the hospital provide them if they weren’t needed?
She said “I don’t mind wearing it” and the healthcare worker refused to drop it.
Told her that it wasn’t necessary and she should remove it.
So she did.
It broke my heart to watch.
This person clearly didn’t want to get sick. She was clearly in a vulnerable group. She was trying to do the right thing.
But she trusted the healthcare worker because they’re supposed to be the experts.
They’re supposed to care about our health.
They’re supposed to protect us
I think of her whenever I see a healthcare worker mocking maskers on social media.
Their anger and vitriol towards patients who mask left me wondering how many times they’ve convinced someone to go without protection.
How many times have they been the reason someone got sick?
A doctor willing to post something like that has given up on even the appearance of caring for their patients.
A good doctor would be encouraging respirator use, not mocking those taking precautions.
This is why we still see so much death and disability from COVID.
Because even those who 100% should know better have decided that the lives of their patients mean less than their own personal comfort.
They’ve decided some death & disability is “acceptable”
It’s not. We can’t accept this as the norm. We shouldn’t be infected in the place we’re forced to go to access care.
Healthcare workers should be leaders. They should be demonstrating how to avoid infection.
They should strive to keep their patients safe.
Clean air and respirators are not a big ask in healthcare settings.
Let’s save lives.
