I continue to be entertained by the ways that people stumble on my blog:
- A bunch of French speakers trying to figure out how they got sick from seafood dinner.
- Chinese-speaking vegans debating about whether bivalves are sentient or can be considered a vegetable.
- Creationists attempting to recruit me to study how clam shells can record a catastrophic movement of the moon at the time of the Great Flood, or prove that oysters lived longer in Abraham's time.
- People trying to ID fossils
- A lot of people are curious about how scallops swim.
- People just getting together to admire hammer oysters. Wholesome!
- What really warms the cockles of me ol heart: teachers sharing my blog with their students. I love getting a bunch of clicks from an education site in New Zealand or Kentucky
The contact form on my website is basically only ever filled out by robots, so I added a checkbox that says, "I am a robot. Only check this box if you are a robot." https://stevendbrewer.com/contact-me/
Robots appear to find it irresistible.
re: ai slop 9/11s
I really want to shout from the rooftops by the way that these images wouldn't be possible without Apple Inc. Thanks Apple Inc!
ai slop 9/11s
it's actually really interesting; the image diffuser at the heart of image playground is happy to generate disaster scenes, but it has two censorship models (one for input, one for output) that you have to figure out how to get around. Once you do that though,
One of the key things I fought for on Android was that AOSP (the open source release) could be built for and installed on the flagship Android devices. (Nexus, Pixel, etc). Sounds like that's no longer the case as of Android 16. Very sad.

Here's our princess. She's splendid, I'm speechless. She doesn't look 14!
It's the first time I've been able to see her eyes!! I'm so happy.

Today is June 11, the annual day of action in solidarity with long-term anarchist prisoners. As we mobilize to defend our communities from ICE and DHS, our thoughts are also with Marius Mason, Monica Caballero, and other captured comrades.
Abolish prisons. Freedom for all.
Background on the history of June 11, which has been observed for 25 years:
Dear conlanging fediverse,
Where do people share and discuss their conlangs nowadays? I lurked at the ZBB back in 2008-2009 a bit. What places should I check out now in 2025?
I think I'm looking for a chat or forum where people share their struggles and joys while they're conlanging. Maybe also a place where people share their (more finished) works and ask for feedback/critique too.
