pet peeve when smug athiests talk about religion

When culturally christian athiests talk about "organized religion" vs "unorganized religion" they are usually just trying to sus out whether there are harmful cult dynamics at play and lack the vocabulary or willfully delude themselves based on prejudices. Cult dynamics can be present within any group, religion or not. The distinction is largely constructed and explored to satisfy a secular distaste of anything too foreign or immaterial (non-secular) instead of genuine concern for others. Believe it or not, many groups of people, by virtue of being grouped together, are "organized" to do so, and the distinction is largely meaningless.

Mutual aid - need help with rent :boost_ok: [111/550]

I managed to borrow the money needed for April's rent but I still owe that person back, and my Internet bill just hit. I might be able to take care of Internet later this month if streaming goes well but obviously that depends on a lot of factors.

thank you for caring.

archlinux wiki deployed anubis but removed the cute anubis mascot, cowards, ugh

This is technically possible, there is even an Arch wiki page, but for some reason it seems like a largely abandoned or forgotten technology?

Linux desktops should have multiseat desktop sessions which can be divided into subdesktop sessions, or collaboratively operated, should have happened already. Without the encumberance of personal licensing from Microsoft/Apple, computers should be useful to more people at once given how valuable they are!

The Nintendo Wii was released closer to the time the pyramids were built than today, really makes you think

"In the past few decades of “living with the internet” these places and encounters have multiplied exponentially, as queer and trans subcultures have relied on message boards, blogs, and personal websites to share information. I personally relied (and still rely on) on reddit, and the classic, Hudson’s FTM Resource Guide (www.ftmguide.org), and TopSurgery.Net to navigate the healthcare system in both the UK and USA in order to access hormones and surgery—part of a much longer tradition of “the Transgender Internet” that Avery Dame-Griff chronicles in his book The Two Revolutions (2023). To say nothing of AOL in the early 2000s, the culture on Tumblr in the early-to-mid 2010s and printed publications like Original Plumbing and archived copies of the FTM Newsletter. Digital environments informed me of physical places, and vice versa, and each expanded and embellished my appreciation of the other. From reading books and trawling the internet, I knew places like San Francisco, New York, London, and Berlin would be where I could find other trans people. When I moved to London, I knew to go to Gay’s the Word, a queer bookshop that first opened in 1979, to make friends, and eventually, to get a job. When I started my own queer book club, or wanted to find zine fairs or club nights, I often found information about them on tumblr or instagram. When traveling to new cities, a gay friend tipped me off that any place recommended by BUTT Magazine would show me a good time."
