I am reading about the weird ancap seasteading fantasy stuff and looking at what these people think. Since crypto and finance bros are a big part of it now, somebody realized that ultimately people need to, you know, **dock somewhere**. So a user on r/seasteading has invented sealording, *leasing* out *pier space* to seastead buildings like shops. Of course since this is just some gullible american, they can only think of two types of businesses. Very funny to me.

At this point I guess the appeal is they can go offshore to somewhere else when their business gets in trouble with the law lmao.

I hope I get to live long enough to witness the groverhaus of the sea

Syrian Jews return to Damascus for the first time in 30 years ...

Recently, I shared about the devastating, life-sapping experience of losing custody of my 6-yr-old, who I haven't seen in >3 years. Being erased from her life is a great tragedy for me and for an innocent kid being deprived of a loving, present dad. Racism constantly creates generational trauma.

I've found a lawyer I trust to help reunite us. I’ll need $3k for the retainer and quite a bit more to go the distance. THANK YOU for your support!

Trans George Costanza: You're in the middle of a date and you *chanced* it?

Trans Jerry: They had the vibe of a "she"!! I didn't know!

Trans George: Unbelievable. You don't do the pronoun peek.

Trans Jerry: What's to peek?

Trans George: You go to the bathroom and check their socials on you phone! The pronouns are gonna be there somewhere

Trans Jerry: What if you haven't interacted online?

[Trans George gives Trans Jerry an "are you kidding me" look, audience laughs]

Why is "bloody" considered profanity? As the only counterpart to "fuck" in the very small category of "words English language can infix" it just seems so pathetic and childish. It is like a little pathetic English boy is trying his hardest to be rude, but is too scared to use a real curse every time I read it. Whenever I read authors who use it I am immediately losing immersion. There is simply no way an adult would say that as a curse, im-fucking-possible.

Reporting by many outlets including The Continent has shown that some of the violence and neglect that kills migrants is by government forces in North Africa which have received hundreds of millions of euros from the EU over the past decade to “manage migrations”. continent.substack.com/p/mass-

I like media that is just like "hey we got some mysterious repeating numbers for you to ponder". Is there still any of that?

PSA: have you replaced your bicycle helmet recently? Remember, they are good for only ONE impact, and they degrade over time. Helmet technology has also gotten a lot better in the past ten years -- Virginia Tech has been testing helmets to an actual quantifiable standard (whether that standard tracks human brain impacts, different question, but at least there is a number to track), and the best helmet you can buy for $65 today is roughly HALF the concussion risk as a $250 S-Works Evade II from 2018.

This message brought to you by my Echelon II MIPS, having given its all to keep my head safe when it hit the ground at 18.7mph indicated; it was replaced by a Chamonix 3 that is 20% safer. (I got away with some road rash, a concussion that appears to have mostly resolved itself by T+4 days, and what are surely going to be truly astonishingly large ER bills. The bike is fine.)
