Hi out there. Does anyone know any employment law attorneys who will represent black folks in Oregon?

I'm asking on behalf of my mom, who is currently going through hell at her job due to racism. The lovely, subtle type where they "manage you out" while they pretend to be reasonable.

Since we moved to the Pacific NW, it's been the same thing over and over again. It's tiring, and I want to fight back.

If you see this, please boost it.

An illustration of survivor bias: yesterday the speaker in our seminar asked if anyone was affected by the ongoing fires. Everyone present assured the speaker that they were not significantly impacted.

Attendance was about half of the normal size.

We just had a meeting where we're figuring out how to filter out a bunch of social media posts and discussing how there are no accurate language detection tools that can help us do our task, and only some automated tools (some of which we built) that can help us get half way there.

Meanwhile we have press releases masquerading as journalism telling us that artificial general intelligence (AGI) is coming 🙄

smell ya later, transvestigator, let's just say that this women's restroom is booby-trapped ⚧️💣

conspiracy theory 👽

"Some people are saying that humans and greys are creating hybrids *because* of climate change."

As a trained firefighter I'm astounded/horrified at the number of reporters not wearing masks while reporting on the fires in LA.

A good story isn't worth sacrificing your life and health to hydrocarbons and burning plastic. The average home in 2025 is so toxic while burning that it's hard to watch; far more toxic than homes historically have ever been throughout history. This is something they drilled into us deeply while training.

The cause and effect can be long term and utterly devastating. A mask is gonna save your life in the coming years, be it pandemic or flames.

Wear a mask, shower often. Wash your hands before you eat. A lot of firefighters died before we figured out those basics.

PS- if you have a paint respirator with VOC cartridges even better.

There have been quite a few white trans people, mostly Trans women, over the past couple weeks, both here and in person, talking about "passing" and… y'all:

👏 Read 👏 Black 👏 Writing👏

JFC please don't use floating point types for calculating financial transactions or storing monetary values. I just got asked to review some code by someone and it is the first thing I spotted.

I met one of the "You need to use Linux because you can run AI on the blockchain" kinda guys for the first time in real life today.

gba question

Is there a tamagotchi kinda thing for gba? Maybe as homebrew, or in emulation via gba homebrew?

visited another, bigger, dam, got a full guided tour, and it was sooo awesome

also til there are a large enough population of dam nerds that they've created "dam facts" collectable trading cards

all of which costs: $0

Let it be known that this is an antifascist novelty clam account

SteamOS but it's a locomotive-themed breakfast cereal

There are literally entire books about "passing." (Looks pointedly at Nella Larsen)

And, yes, this is relevant. Unfortunately far too many white people think books written by Black authors are "Black stuff," without realizing that the other side of that coin never seems to be that books written by white authors are "white stuff."

questions re: the flu currently going around

I'm like 90% sure I have the flu and I was looking into the symptoms I have cause they seem a bit unusual, at least compared to what the typical flu symptoms are from what I've read, and came across a subreddit for it (r/flu lol) where people were talking about how they've had this for 2, 3, 4 weeks, someone said they were on day 35 of it and that's fucking wild?

Like, I've been dizzy for the past few days, sweating like hell during *some nights*, stuff like that, and idk what's up?

Is anyone else dealing with this flu or dealt with it recently? What was your experience? Any advice? I've been unable to see a doctor and I might still be unable to until Friday, so, uh, yeah
