this is just so immensely funny to me, men thought they could finally have "women" they can control and shape to their desires as much as they like and it still fails because its trained on how women actually act

Re: Menus in titlebar: a warning to heretics

@Byte forsake your impious temptations!!! Switching window focus merelt to access different menubars is deeply heretical.

Menus in titlebar: a warning to heretics

@Byte
The menubar is the UI strip that usually has stuff like "File, Edit, View, Search, etc".

The titlebar is the bar on top of a window. It contains things like the title of a window, an icon for the application, some buttons for maximize, minimize, close, and it is usually a drag handle for moving the window.

Most people never see these in an unorthodox confuguration unless they are a Mac user or have used Unity Desktop (both of these have a unified menubar at the top of the screen. Some absolute freaks go further, like in GNOME, where GNOME apps have a weirdly abbreviated/stunted menubar shoved in with the titlebar (usually just a single stupid hamburger menu button). This post was triggered by seeing a KDE extension to do the same thing. Unhinged. I don't want to accidentally click menus when dragging a window.

Here is the sacred inviolable rule which the various heresies will attempt to forsake:
All windows have a titlebar at their top. You can use it for moving the window and using window management operations. Below the titlebar, optionally (Or hidden until you hold Alt), is a menubar, which has a catalog of every function of the application in a ribbon across the screen which expand into submenus. In my opinion, anything other than a Titlebar atop a menu bar, per window, not in a tiling window manager, is infuriating unintuitive contrarian UI-design. It should be banished into the hills. The only screenshot below which conforms to this is xfce4, but this is also a traditional Windows desktop UI design.

I will include some screenshots with image descriptions for clarification. Heresies on display to be named and shamed:

menus in titlebar: a warning to heretics

The UI sins of Canonical's Unity Desktop Environment are being revivified and I just gotta state for the record:

Get your goddamn menu out of my titlebar. This shit is opt-in for the FREAKS out there. Y'all enjoy yourselves, but drop any aspirations of making your gimmick mainstream, please. Out, over there with the tiling wm freaks (affectionate).

@mossfet I was making a joke bestie

But if we are being serious, I don't take that "Marx failed to consider..." phrasing seriously in any case, because plenty of other Marxists have had just about everything to say about anything since he died. So what is the point in pointing that out, unless you just want to admit you only ever read Marx like some kind of orthodox Marxist literalist.

Microsoft Windows 11 is such a fucked up Operating System that it activates my distrohopping masochism instinct and I adopt it as another bespoke hard to maintain system to setup as a hobby. I switched to Linux because it was hard and I enjoyed the pain, and now I finally have that same reason to revisit Windows.

vegan food: Chickpea Curry BBQ Pizza

Made some pizza the other night with my wife and I wanted to try something new.

Took a can of chickpeas with the aqua fava and put into a small pot with garlic salt and lots of curry powder. Boiled for 4 minutes, and then simmered on low for 10 minutes or until it is no longer a runny-liquid, but more of a goopy garlic and curry mess.

Next take the pizza crust and apply thick layer of a sweet BBQ sauce evenly across the crust (If you don't consider honey vegan, you might have to make your own, but don't forget to use something with pineapple juice! I like Sweet Baby Rays). Then evenly spoon out the chickpea curry mush across the top of the pizza covered in sweet BBQ sauce.

Fill all the gaps in the chickpeas and curry with some selective spoonfuls of garlic marinara sauce, careful not to add too much and cause sauce to run off the side of the pizza crust. Once gaps are filled, mix it in just a little bit with a spoon to give the pizza an even coating of all the ingredients.

With the gaps filled and sauce spread out evenly, slice red onions into rings, strips, or just dice them. Sprinkle on top so that they settle and sink a bit into the mixture.

Then just into the oven like a normal pizza and serve while still hot! Vegan BBQ curry pizza. The BBQ and Curry flavors work way better together than you would think, and the mushy boiled and then oven roasted chickpea layer gives the pizza more of a "body" that other vegan pizzas tend to lack, where they resemble something more like flatbread. Very filling with lots of protein.
