trans, genitals, Boost please <3

I think it's what it means that's the issue.

When a cis man's clothes indicate he has a penis, it means nothing.

When mine, a trans woman's, do - it's automatically angry, sexual, a Statement. Political. It needs to be some of those things. I have some say in how I sell it, but those are my options at the best of times. Deviant or defiant.

Yes, even to cis people who are allies and know I'm a woman. They may accept my reasons for having a dick, but I need reasons. And often Reasons. Even if they'll react with "you go, girl", I need to put out a message for them to react to. Be it meek or brave.

Cis men don't.

I don't mind being the Angry Trans. But I hate that I have to be some kind of consciously chosen kind of trans.

Making this one public so it's Boostable. Hope it reaches some sympathetic cises and makes them think. About something I have to have a take on. I need to be a historian, political scientist, biologist, activist, diplomat and PR rep to comfortably exist. Y'all don't.

If you're trans, it's already likely you'll Boost this (thanks!). If you're cis and fancy yourself an ally, I dare you to.

militarism

It is really bonkers how much the modern world has normalized flagrant displays of militarism and no longer sees the omens approaching horrors.

big head mode cheat has been enabled for portraits of authoritarian communists

now reading: Blood: A Critique of Christianity

Gil Anidjar pointing out this quote for me was really eye opening.

After September 11, say Catherine Waldby and Robert Mitchell, “the excessive desire to give blood was perhaps driven by a sense that the body politic was itself wounded in the attacks.”

@thufie we've packaged a lie detector with our lying machine

@clarfonthey I continually think about a research project I saw that used an LLM to give directions for car navigation, which had to introduce a theorem prover to actually verify the LLM output was valid.

Nothing of value added, required importing a large tool to make up for the obvious pitfalls. Only appeals to people who value the technology for name recognition alone.

if god didn't want us to break our old lcd screens then he shouldn't have made them make pretty colors when you push on 'em

In 2036 workers finally get the hard-fought union-won right and requirement to industrial moon shoes on all construction sites.

subtoot, extreme european antisemitism

@meatmech idk it was in french. probably some misguided leftist trying to make some sharable viral post for Oct 7th.

Chair of my department sent out info on a "peace studies" fellowship for PhD candidates funded by the DoD, anyway satire is dead

“htmx ~ Why Gumroad Didn't Choose htmx”

htmx.org/essays/why-gumroad-di

> AI and Tooling Support: It’s worth noting that AI tools are intimately familiar with Next.js and not so much with htmx, due to the lack of open-source training data.

A risk with "AI" for coding I’ve talked about is that it's trained on legacy code so it's going to be a conservative force in software dev, driving people to use outdated but popular approaches. This is the first time I've seen that happen in the wild
