so i quit my job last week. i had been working at a bird seed store but the owner thought it was appropriate to share his many horrifying right wing political opinions with me. i could no longer stomach earning money for him. i was a great employee, taking on as much as i could and aimed to be an asset for this company. thats just how i work, i come in, see issues, and work my hardest to fix them. i tried to just do the bare minimum for a bit, it doesnt work for me
it feels like an absolutely awful idea to be standing hardline for my moral code at a time with such economic uncertainty and yet i would rather starve than support this type of bullshit.
and you may be asking, what the hell? a bird seed store? yes, and in one of the more “liberal” areas of the country. it is everywhere and its just a bit quieter here, no less nasty though.
in the end what set me over the edge was trying to look at this moment in future retrospect, and asking what side of history i want to be on.
will i be ashamed to have supported someone with horrific views.
yes. yes i would.
and my choice was made.
anyhow, thats my life update. not sure whats next but i have a ton of ideas. if you know of anything that might be up my alley i would really appreciate you letting me know about it. obviously though prioritize the folks who have been laid off and who are in dire need. i have support for a bit but i am certainly looking for something new
