I appreciate the work that Google and eventually Apple put in to bringing Signal-like E2EE privacy to text messages via RCS, but the implementation in Google's Messages app is so vulnerable to downgrade attacks that it just falls back to unencrypted SMS at the slightest provocation.

Is there a text message app that I can use to talk with RCS-capable Android/iOS people that will at least ask me before stripping the privacy from my messages?
