@welshpixie I am dumbfounded. I think this extremely dense marketing and industry insider jargon is supposed to be inclusive but it is completely illegible to anyone outside this guy's corporate slack.
The anti content-warning crowd may want to know about this nefarious form of censorship being promoted on the modern web!! Truly the worst form of repression, the tyranny of an extra click!

I am not silencing myself this is a subject line and intro
Content-warnings are like email subject lines and nobody complains that having to write a subject line for an email is censorship or a personal affront. Complaining about such a benign feature is usually missing the point about how they are even used by most people.
Nobody says they are being silenced when writing an email subject line just because someone has to tap or click a thing once. The fucking melodramatic kickback from people about this feature to this day really startles me. It is as nonsensical as right wingers constant whinging about "pronouns" as if a grammatical particle can hurt them.
Feel free to enjoy the convenience of collapsing this long email-like post back under the content warning and resuming scrolling. You'll be able to find it easier by searching, and it won't take up as much room once you've read it, sure signs that I love oppressing and stifling my own speech /s 🙄
Ashkenazi Jewish surnames
@nightjar @Byte most of them that fall outside that category of "idk it sounds like a cool name" just took the name of their settlement. It is pretty common to be able to trace an Ashkenazi Jewish family back to the exact village in eastern europe by name alone. A lot of these places no longer exist because they were Jewish settlements targeted in pogroms, or just happened to be in the path of a war.
It really isn't that different than people in most places forced to adopt surnames. In other historical circumstances a surname would be a family trade, name of a clan, or something.
gen AI usage in FOSS project
just accidentally read the README for keepassxc and found a "generative AI" section, which just says significant usage will be marked on PRs
the most recent commit (a PR merged) includes github copilot as the coauthor and one of the project members as the committer of that
copilot was explicitly added on 2025-06-19 with the first explicit sign of github copilot use on 2025-06-19 (earlier with unmarked things is unknown). there has been 0 releases with any explicitly marked copilot code, so 2.7.10 is the last one before it includes any known AI code.
