i've told this story before but can't find the post: when i was in college, the Republican student group put up "defund planned parenthood" posters. someone tore them all down and replaced some with a statement claiming the action as a defense of reproductive justice and bodily autonomy. the republicans threw a tantrum about being "silenced." the administration promised to investigate it as vandalism. every left org on campus, including many so-called anarchists, made statements distancing themselves from this "violent" act and calling for civility. nearly everyone i talked to said the anonymous poster-remover "went too far." and that was moment i realized no one is coming to save us but ourselves

a little kid walked up to me seemingly out of nowhere while i was taking pictures of an isopod on the ground today. basically i was just standing there on the trail pointing my long lens at the ground which probably looked pretty funny. they asked me what i was doing. i told them i was looking at bugs! they didnt seem impressed. then i pointed out a nice butterfly that landed on a tree. still not impressed. then mom and sibling walked up and asked what i was doing so i explained again lol. also did not seem too impressed but as they were walking away i heard mom explaining to them again “yeah hes just taking pictures of any cool bugs he sees”

I want to thank everyone for boosting my mutual aid request for my pupper's heartworm prevention! I just ordered it and for some reason they didn't ask me for a prescription from my vet, so we'll see how that goes. I was also able to use an online July 4th sales coupon that brought the price down, so I'll use the extra money to treat Boo to some chicken!
