This is amazing! We want to thank to @PINE64 for providing us with a #PinePhone dev. Kit. We will begin working on putting #Nitrux on the device 🤩🤩🤩

@Dayglochainsaw I can fit at least $5.50 in quarters in my foreskin without them falling out. (a friend dared me)

@ky0ko I've heard that that happens in Windows because the mouse cursor is actually part of the kernel, along with scroll bars and a lot of other things that don't sound like they should be in the kernel.

We need a "combine into article" feature for Mastodon. @garfiald threads are something I wanna sit down and digest, and that often means I wanna put a dyslexic font on it and blow it up all big 🙂

update: i have been informed this is considered "hacking", "cheating", and "against the university's code of conduct"

@violet @thufie Yeah, they are neat devices. I was surprised at how much they cost when I looked them up. I work with a blind and deaf programmer who wrote the braille library that most software that works with braille uses, and his braille readers are the only way he can use his computers. His main system runs Debian, which runs BRLTTY by default to output to displays like that.

@violet @thufie I helped someone at work who used a braille device for working with spreadsheets and tables, since it's a lot faster than using the screenreader he used for general reading.

Beauty, elegance, grace, wisdom, a winning smile... she popped into your head before you even had to open the picture, didn't she? 😊

@f0x I set up dropbear on my desktop a while ago, and I can SSH into it, but for some reason it doesn't decrypt properly if I put the password in over SSH. I need to try setting that up again.
A remote KVM switch would be very handy. I found this guide on setting something like that up, but it seems a bit complicated: github.com/Fmstrat/diy-ipmi

@f0x I want to set up full disk encryption on my server, the main reason I haven't so far is because I want to make sure I can reboot remotely and decrypt it without issues. I haven't had to recover from a chroot in a long time, since the new version of proxmox includes ZFS right in the kernel, kernel updates can't break ZFS support anymore.

woooo we're back online
after long debugging in the cold next to my windy front door; with emotional support from my blahaj and technical support from IRC my homeserver (and pixie.town workhorse) is all working again after a system malfunction during an upgrade

"It is eminently possible to weave ancient knowledge of how to live symbiotically with nature into how we shape the cities of the future, before this wisdom is lost forever. We can rewild our urban landscapes, and apply low-tech ecological solutions to drainage, wastewater processing, flood survival, local agriculture and pollution that have worked for indigenous peoples for thousands of years, with no need for electronic sensors, computer servers or extra IT support."

I miss text and image tutorials. Video tutorials are so difficult for me to follow I have to constantly pause and scrub the playback timeline. It's annoying.
