love the particular linux failure mode where the mouse cursor still moves on the screen but *absolutly nothing else* works

clicking on things does nothing, keyboard doesn't respond to anything, no caps lock light, ctrl-alt-f2 does nothing, even magic sysrq key doesn't work

but the mouse still works

@ky0ko I've heard that that happens in Windows because the mouse cursor is actually part of the kernel, along with scroll bars and a lot of other things that don't sound like they should be in the kernel.
