@IceWolf @thufie Oh yeah and it probably helped that they literally just hired most of the people who might've been publicly critics of them, at one point a truly staggering amount of activist-y people I knew were employed by Cloudflare, and of course didn't want to hear anything about the sketchiness of the company

@IceWolf @thufie A combination of marketing, convenience, and free shit, basically - Cloudflare is very good at presenting themselves as "keeping the internet safe", even convincing a lot of techies, and so warning people of the MITM mostly resulted in "ehhh I'm sure they have no ill intentions" responses

It is weird that so many people think that anarchism is somehow incompatible with communism, when most anarchists believe anarchism is the only viable path to the end goal claimed by other communists, a classless society, a humanity in society liberated from oppression.

Federation between GoToSocial and Misskey seems to work properly now as long as the latest version of Misskey (12.111.0 at time of writing) is being used!
This is due to some recent fixups for http signatures by Misskey.
So don't forget to update your Misskey instance if you want to federate with GtS peeps :)

anyways, if you gotta talk to the computer in a particular way to get a good conversation, then that seems like it's on you.
you ever hear the story of the MIT team back in the day that wanted to train a computer to recognize when it saw you jump with a camera, and it worked for them, but it didn't work for the general public? It turned out that the computer had trained them to jump in a certain way instead of them teaching the computer.
