So I've started watching 'Humans', which is a great show. But now I reeeally wanna make a tamagochi like thing even though the plot of Humans should probably have me do the exact opposite

Fediverse surveillance instance: Fedichive

There is a new instance¹ that tries to archive the whole Fediverse² and they plan to make a full text search available to everyone. I recommend you block their IPs.

What they are doing is illegal by the way, at least when it concerns EU citizens.

lengthy, activist media training advice

If you're an activist and you deal with journalists, you've probably run into issues at some point with your statements being misrepresented.

Ultimately, journalists and editors are human beings like everyone else, and so they will generally take whatever approach requires the least effort, for the best result.

What this means in practice, is that you should *always* proofread your answers to written interviews before giving them (same for your prefab press materials).

If you format them so well that they can be literally copy-pasted into the article, that is exactly what will happen, and the editor won't touch them! Misrepresentation almost always happens when the editor tries to rephrase your statements, so this is an easy and effective strategy to prevent that.

(Big companies know this too, which is why they always have press kits and canned statements ready. *Especially* for anticapitalist activism, it's important to understand their tactics and learn how to use them for social good.)

kinda interesting how ppl complain about resource useage so much, but it's actually Mastodon's sidekiq that uses a large majority of my resources
