@stardust oh I see, in 3.x it's still a normal Mastodon setting under Site settings, and 4.x onwards it's a glitch-soc addition under Server settings > Discovery. Possibly Hometown has it too, haven't checked
@weirdwriter it's adding support for a few html tags the frontend previously didn't show/process at all, but most likely we'll see a markdown input option for the Mastodon compose box soonish in a separate PR, and this is just the first step towards better markdown/formatting
the federation tester thing is kinda odd in general, I made it super quickly ages ago and it's just a slightly more approachable abstraction over the json report from the api that someone else already made
the https://federationtester.matrix.org/ frontend is probably still the most used piece of software I've ever made, but GoToSocial actually has tons of self-hosted versions everywhere now, and it always catches me off-guard like "i made that"
