why cohost is problematic (long) :boosts_ok_gay:

@max Right. This is actually one reason why I'm skeptical of activist projects that are incorporated in the US in general - "non-profit" generally means a lot more in other countries, including some sort of legal obligation to act in line with the defined mission statement and/or public interest. That's really the bare minimum protection-from-corruption you'd need when incorporating into a hierarchical form.

(When I say "non-profit", that is also what I am referring to, not to the typical US incorporation forms or tax status)

Afternoon all! It's the second and final day of our open Q&A session, and the final day of our June fundraising push on opencollective.com/gotosocial.

Like yesterday, please feel free to drop any questions you have about GoToSocial in reply here, or in a separate post, or whatever you like, and we'll answer 'em!

@Cyborgneticz @soft when asked how it differs from the fediverse they said they have "a bunch of friends who have had to pull up stakes on the fediverse and recreate on other instances because there was mod beef involving their instance that got it defederated so suddenly they were completely invisible to anyone who didn't follow them"

so instead they made their own platform where they three control everything, without federation at all (and there's various other weird design and organizational things)

@emi i guess you really need that company to keep a centralized registry of who is using which shade already!

uni grades~

received 2/3 final grades (uploaded at 00:30am lol)

with those it means i have to get a 4.9 or higher for my drawing portfolio to pass the course, or anywhere higher than a 1.4 to still be allowed to do a resit for it? sounds doable
