and to paraphrase john steinbeck, i think the reason why despite having so many queer people in my country we haven't achieved any equality, is not only because the government worker and the capitalist oppress us, but also because a concerning number of lgbtq people see themselves not as queers but as temporarily embarrassed cisses and heterosexuals
