The Fediverse is a wonderful place where honest, hardworking meme farmers, such as myself, can thrive. The truth is that for every one, organic, handmade meme I make; the meme factories owned by brands can make ten more. The Fediverse allows me to make my freshly-baked, chemical-free memes without worrying about McDonald’s down my back.

kink ish, vague

Kink as a method of relational being, of embodying an existence that is different and relative to others, reinforcing the self by creating a context for it. Filling a role that's fit for purpose, not created by non-consensual, external pressures

kink ish, less vague better words

I like being critical, hurtful, domineering, disrespectful, controlling, etc. etc. I don't want to do that to people because it would hurt and diminish them. But, with kink, I can build a context where it's appropriate for me to be those things, where the hurt is prepared for and welcomed.

I also like being soft, nonverbal, affectionate, and other adjectives too embarrassing to write publicly. I don't want to be those things all the time, because it demands effort from people close to me, and they get in the way of things I want to accomplish. But, with kink, those things can be temporary and contained - more importantly, they can be desirable and rewarded.

With play partners and proper negotiation, we can build contexts, separate realities where I can be those things I normally can't, parts of me that normally aren't very welcome or useful.

The Verge keeps using an upside down Twitter bird impaled on an X as the hero image for their stories about the garbage fire, and every single time I'm like "oh is there a new Sonic game coming out?"

It's weird how effective adding weights to cheap gadgets is, as a means to make them feel more robust and premium (that, and getting rid of any rattles)

I can't help but notice that "white supremacist habits and mannerisms" and "necrocomputing" (ie. faux minimalism in software/hardware) keep showing up together

I love how in chemistry almost everything is a white powder or a colorless liquid. Like a chemist could give you a spoonful of white powder and it could be table salt, a potent drug, the deadliest poison on earth or fucking rocket fuel and you'd have no idea.

Seeing a storm and my first thought is "oh I hope the bees are okay"

Have been rewatching the Expanse. Something I'm very much enjoying is spotting all the things the prop department have co-opted to make things look "futuristic".

Need a futuristic coffin, I'm pretty sure that's a roof box from a car.
Futuristic storage box? That'll be a Festool Systainer...
Building on a planet you're colonising? Cut up a pair of 20ft ISOs and reassemble them as a hexagon...
Helmet for a space suit? 3m painters mask with stuff stuck on...

Well played props department.

Mews Report:

Hacktivist shitposters have cracked the shitpost sourcecode and distributed it worldwide

Shitposts are flooding the market causing their value to decrease significantly

Some say this may bring about the end of the Shitpost Empire, with shitposts being returned to the people, for the people

New regulations limiting sulfur content of the fuel used by ships may be responsible for much of the North Atlantic's strangely high temperature this year. The clouds seeded by sulfate aerosols seem to have been masking surface warming that would otherwise have taken place due to GHG emissions:

I sometimes wonder if I'm the only one to actually look at the federated timeline

Funny how the very same people who were complaining about the “threat to free speech” posed by marginalised groups speaking out about hate, are the ones now proposing draconian bills that will actually curb free speech, and in fact impact disproportionately the speech of those very same marginalised groups

We fucking told ya

@pounce @_ just claim that you're following the ancient Dutch tradition of throwing bikes into the canals.

what, you don't think fietsgrachtenwerp is a thing? why else would we have the fietswrakkenbaggerboot? redirect.invidious.io/watch?v=

HP are such scammers

I posted about this very cheap printer before, which strongly suggests that there is No USB, only Wifi. When I first got it I figured out how to print over the network without using the app they try to bully you into downloading.

It turns out it's even easier to print, just use the USB port they try to pretend isn't there!

No company is going to rewrite their firmware to remove the USB stack. It's even more expensive to redesign the hardware to get rid of the USB port physically. They opted for the cheapest option, a little sticker.

They are just trying to store everyone's documents in their stupid cloud service that some teenage extortion group is going to break into and leak one day. Don't give them your data.
