See where “reaching across the aisle” gets you?

I want everyone that ever chastised me for how I moved to bigoted people to hang their heads in shame. Then I want them to buck the fuck up and actually fight back like you mean it.

Stop. Sympathising. With. Bigots. And. Christian. Fundamentalists.

how much faster and easier to use would the web be if all advertising and tracking was removed from it?

People with uteruses have been prosecuted before for being victims of gun violence during a certain 9 months if you get my drift.

Miscarriages Will be monitored.

And if you don't think this will affect you, because you don't have a uterus, it will

Just because they've come for this right first doesn't mean it will be the LAST right they go for.

I haven't read the current opinion, but when I understood of the leaked draft was it was abundantly clear they were coming for other rights as well.

what happened in the United States today

@JonathanMBR in the United States, the Supreme Court--our Top Lawmakers--just said that access to abortion is *not* a protected right. this means that some of our more extremist states that have already repeatedly tried to make abortion a crime can do so. in their statement they also said that protecting gay and interracial marriages was "a mistake" that they intend to "correct," so we all know what they're going after next.

unfortunately, Supreme Court judges are lifetime appointments--we can't vote them out, or have any way to remove them, unless they die. the extremist right-wing religious party has been pushing to get their judges into the Supreme Court for a couple of decades now, they have a majority, and this is the result.

also that is a *fantastic* picture!

cryptocurrency bullshit, kind of hilariously bad

Imagine lending out $4 billion to companies to buy Bitcoin miners, and accepting the mining hardware as collateral.

Hardware that devalues the moment it gets shipped, has no resale or reuse value, and is almost certainly unprofitable in those exact same circumstances where the loan recipient would go bankrupt (namely, a cryptobunk economy downturn).

How on earth does one survive in the financial industry without realizing that it's completely impossible to recoup *any* losses here? I've seen literal small children make better financial decisions.

non-binary people will spend thousands of hours coding a social media server and then use it to post stuff like 'goodness gracious, great balls'

Had to take the bus into town today, and wore a kilt. Some Delores decided to take issue; which sadly I'm used to. "Why are you wearing a skirt?!" and so on. As I said, used to it (and big scary white dude, so I have some privilege to wield), so I'm calmly addressing it with her

But then she said "well how am I supposed to explain that to my kid?!", and friends, I didn't have to say a thing, because the most awesome Black lady jumped in. She turned to her kid (I'd guess roughly 13 years old) and said "hey, why is he allowed to wear a skirt?"

Kid: "he's grown enough to wear whatever the fuck he wants"

Mom: "see?! Ain't hard ma'am"

Delores huffed but that was pretty much the end 🤣

cheaply print processors onto materials like plastic and paper

#^PlasticArm: Get Your Next CPU, Made Without Silicon

Known for its core design IP that ends up in everything from IoT to smartphones to servers, Arm is now presenting that it has enabled one of its key microcontrollers in a new form factor: rather than using silicon as a base, the company has enabled a processor core in plastic. The technology has been in the works for almost a decade, but Arm has...

you're not even allowed to develop a sense of self before the age of 20. it's a happy accident if you do. before that, you're expected to be a bundle of nerves jumping to the cruel whims of random adults.

and these people want to increase that to age 25. actually disgusting.

tech companies be like "here are tools to monitor your child's private conversations, social media posts, bank accounts, diaries, browsing history, class attendance, GPS location, and deepest inner thoughts" with parents going "why child not trust me???? ?????"

This is cursed, but frankly also a genuinely impressive technical achievement

I just realized that I haven't graced the fediverse yet with knowledge of the amazingly cursed software that is pMusic: a music player from the Puppy Linux project that is built entirely in Bash(!), yet has a GUI with fully-featured playlist management and advanced features like discography management and automatic YouTube searching and streaming!

- syuilo making a PR that adds (non-configurable, permanent) logging of IP addresses to misskey
- syuilo made a PR about AI image classification as NSFW that can be used as upload filter
- the google integration was a big point of contention in the past
- syuilo claims in the contribution guide that he is the best person that has an overview of the code base and is therefore the only person allowed to merge things. yet merging takes forever. even for very simple changes that have been reviewed by multiple other people on the misskey-dev team

i really wonder how much more it will take so i will actually fork misskey. but if i'm alone i'll not end up much better either.

Violate one license and you’re a criminal. Violate every license and you’re an AI.

Explored github copilot,a paid service, to see if it encodes code from repositories w/ restrictive licenses.

I checked if it had code I had written at my previous employer that has a license allowing its use only for free games and requiring attaching the license.
yeah it does
