Violate one license and you’re a criminal. Violate every license and you’re an AI.

Explored github copilot,a paid service, to see if it encodes code from repositories w/ restrictive licenses.

I checked if it had code I had written at my previous employer that has a license allowing its use only for free games and requiring attaching the license.
yeah it does

Unions are good actually

i'm not even a front end dev I do both about equally but even the language i do backend in will just get lumped in with "frontend language bad"

lol i absolutely do not 'have to get covid at some point'

git barely works because my adhd makes me work on 1984104812 things at the same time, in the same codebase, usually depending on each other too

nl pol, police violence

@StroomAfwaarts @joepie91 Actually, Code Rood / Shell Must Fall did that in May 2021. Renting a truck with a wrecking ball (see photo) when protesting at the Shell HQ in The Hague. The police didn't do anything, so I think you are on to something. 😉

Update: farmers are blocking the highways *again*. Cops still refusing the do anything about it. Instead, they arrested 22 climate activists doing a peaceful sit-in at a tax authority office.

one day i will do a conference talk on how to as effectively as possible fuck with corporate lawyers and waste their time + corpo resources without consequences but i don't think now is the time yet

So in NL, leftist/climate/social/etc. activists consistently get beaten up by police and arrested overnight to break up protests, with zero recourse or consequences

Meanwhile a bunch of nazi-adjacent farmers in tractors have been blocking highways all day today, endangering drivers, and issuing explicit threats of violence to politicians, and the police are "in talks with them" and "do not have the capacity to break it up"

"(...) 58% of the rapeseed – and 9% of the sunflower oil – consumed in Europe between 2015 and 2019 was burned in cars and trucks, even though their climate impacts may be even worse than fossil fuels. Supermarkets have had to ration vegetable oils and prices are soaring,” said Maik Marahrens from the campaign group Transport & Environment, which carried out the research. “At the same time, we are burning thousands of tons of sunflower and rapeseed oil in our cars daily. In a time of scarcity we must prioritise food over fuel.”

The famed efficiency of the free market is yet again on display for everyone to marvel at its perfection, I see.

can't stop thinking about how the movie Cars basically proves that if the USA were built for sentient automobiles and no humans existed, the country would look basically the same.

So let me get this straight:

Github scanned a bunch of open source projects.

They trained an AI with it.

They basically ignored the licenses and tried to shove a "because we are basically copying GPL code, it doesn't mean the result is GPL".

And now they are charging for it?

just stopped to get petrol and when we came out of the kiosk some dick parked at a pump in a winnebago started honking the horn at us. we got closer to give them a piece of our mind and it was a fucking dog

All people (yes “users”) should be told that they can control their computer, that they can hack on things. Acting like it's only possible for some elite priesthood is harmful...

blah blah security blah blah not everyone's a programmer

yes I know, but I believe lots of people can (with great effort) do a really simple silly programming thing, and they should 𝗯𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼!
