This is actually not about XML, despite the title, it's about us geeks being fashion victims, and I really enjoyed reading it. bitecode.dev/p/hype-cycles

My heartfelt thanks to all of you who use AltText to add descriptions to your pics and media. As someone who used to be able to see but has been blind for over 30 years now, it allows me to see the pic in my mind and is greatly appreciated and allows me to enjoy them.

Another heartfelt thanks to those who use #CamelCase in their hashtags. This makes it so much easier to understand with a screen reader and for those who read print as well! ❤️

Yes, this is spinning up a VM, running a Docker host with the esp-idf Docker image inside of it, then extracting the relevant part of the filesystem from it, into the target directory, and patching the binaries so that they work on NixOS

Corollary: do not try to argue to someone that something is impossible unless either a) you intend to help them adjust their plans to make it possible, b) trying it anyway would be dangerous/high-stakes, or c) both

Question: Anyone have any up-to-date guides/tools for getting development to work on ? Something that uses (or can use) a version from the past year.

(Please only suggest things that combine all of those three things, just two of them won't be useful!)

So much time and energy is lost to arguing whether something is possible, instead of just trying it out

activism frustration

Both "you should be relentlessly obnoxious about your cause" and "you should be friendly and low-pressure about your cause" are wrong, but for different reasons, and annoyingly few people talk about which tactics are appropriate when

PC Building Simulator 2 is unrealistic because every customer knows exactly what they want

there is a supermarket i am ordering my groceries from since i am located in a very unwalkable part of the city, and since the summer began, they have started this shitty marketing campaign where they put a free can of schweppes ginger ale tonic in your bag for free everytime you order anything and I HATE IT SO MUCHHH

every single fucking time i order a new round of food every two weeks i look in the bag with all the goods, unpack them, and then i see it.

this dreaded copper metal can of ginger ale.

i presume they are doing this because those cans sell badly and they have to find a way to get rid of them.

i tried finding a way to cancel it - there is no. i tried drinking them and i don't like the taste. i am desperate. frustration is mounting

I HAVE SEVEN CANS ALREADY
WHY
WHY'D YOU DO THIS TO ME
DO I LOOK LIKE AN IRISHMAN??? I AM FUCKING ASIAN, MAN.

im hysterical lmao
