@ShadowJonathan@tech.lgbt I don't know of an off-the-shelf tool for video, but if you have the disk space and CPU to spare, ffmpeg *can* just extract every Nth frame from a video (there's a stackoverflow answer for it ~somewhere~) and then you could use an off-the-shelf image comparison tool against that?

Bank of America set on fire in Portland

"Last night I broke into a Bank of America in Portland, Oregon and started a large fire. According to news reports, the fire grew quickly and took firefighters more than an hour to extinguish.

I attack for revenge against capital for the hell it creates, to break the illusion of police control that usually protects it, and just because I can.

Bank of America funds the Atlanta Police Foundation and a thousand other projects of control. Earlier that day, the six friends in Atlanta charged with “domestic terrorism” were released from jail. May this fire bring them some warmth in winter.

Long live anarchy!"

re: ABA, ACAB

@MerlinJStar@weirder.earth It would not surprise me, although I haven't dealt much with ABA directly. The language and rhetoric tends to be very similar in general, among those who seek to build and/or uphold hierarchies of any sort.

In other news, Australia's Lord Mayor of Melbourne is frustrated that QR codes placed around the city to report graffiti have been vandalized by overlaid alternate QR codes leading to a hip hop culture documentary on YouTube. Oops!

I really hate this ageist ass notion that young people always want change and hate the system, but it's only because they're "naïve" and they will "grow up" when they will age. whoever said that needs to be decked because they is not only ageist, they is also upholding the status quo

I needed to read this today. My New Years revolution is to live life vibrantly, like a benevolent alien.

I think it might help. 🧡

“Nice is not the same as kind.
Nice is not the same as ethical.
Nice is not the same as moral.

The older I get, the less interested I am in “nice.”

Nice is the gift wrap; it says nothing about what’s inside.”

This is also related to the myth that "racism will die out" or "homophobia will die out" as older people die.

No, bigotry and fascistic attitudes *don't* just die out, they must be actively fought and defeated on an ongoing basis.

Because sometimes we make the mistake of thinking "Oh, the youth must not be bigoted like their forebears" but guess what.

If that were true we wouldn't have had the tiki torches or the terf explosion.

Allies and enemies in every generation.

@shine @whatanerd Hmm, I've not seen that one anywhere yet! I've tried the store-brand vegan mozzarella from Albert Heijn in a pasta dish, and it worked okay enough, but the taste was rather weak. Didn't try baking it though!

It probably helps that Nurishh is a brand from an actual cheese manufacturer, so they at least have people who understand how it's supposed to taste 🙃

@whatanerd Might not be! NL is notoriously behind with vegan stuff :) It's only very recently that there's starting to be affordable vegan stuff in regular stores with any semblance of quality

@whatanerd On a brighter note: I've been pleasantly surprised by both the 'premium' vegan burgers and the vegan shoarma from Lidl. Both turned out extremely well, the resulting meal was basically indistinguishable from the real thing

meta, griping about being emailed

oh yes, absolutely email me to 'appeal the block' of your instance, that will definitely convince me -_-

@whatanerd Yeahhhh. I've found the ones from Nurishh to be a bit closer to the real thing, but they don't seem to be available anywhere in NL. Their vegan gran padano is surprisingly good though.

love going back to do a task i can't remember why i stopped doing and being reminded "oh yeah i went over to do this other thing" and repeating this loop twenty-six times before finally coming back to the original task

Sick of people calling everything in crypto a Ponzi scheme. Some crypto projects are Pump-and-Dump schemes, while others are Pyramid schemes. Others are just middlemen skimming off the top. Others are just standard-issue fraud.

Stop glossing over the diversity in the industry.

@whatanerd Relatedly: very annoying how some vegan cheese slices have a way too low salt content, presumably because they're trying to avoid the coconut oil aftertaste, and thereby make it taste like *nothing at all*

Considering it's somehow becoming cheaper (rather, other cheeses are becoming more expensive), I wish the singular vegan cheese at Lidl was... better than this.

It's like if someone made a cheese but only had a vague idea of what cheese was and that their only real thought about the whole thing was based on salt content.
