@Dee @maia @maddiefuzz You joke, but that is commonly how shell companies are constructed

France is facing massive droughts, but golf greens have been exempted from water restrictions; so climate activists went to golf courses and filled the holes with concrete! #StopGolf

@viv @zkat IIRC there's two different fans being used depending on batch, one quiet and one loud

@luci @crashglasshouses@kolektiva.social Totally possible to maintain this as a separate 'overlay' yeah, depending on jurisdiction you may even be able to host it legally

Discord's "it's your lucky day, there's a new version" dialog is actually means "welp, guess I'm not logging in today" to NixOS users.

A friend of ours has put up this site for collecting anonymized personal stories about #COVID-19 -- please feel free to reshare/boost!

Fedora and Nvidia Steam Proton Help Required to run The Sims 4, please boost, please reply

Anybody out there who can help @RadiantEmber figure out why The Sims 4 won't work properly even through Proton Experimental or Glorious Eggroll Proton on #fedora please, they need it for their work, thank you.

@IzzyOnDroid@mastodon.technology @fdroidorg@mastodon.technology After looking into it a bit further with some friends, it looks like they're basically trying to implement Sealed Sender. And while they've at least documented their design (unlike Signal), it's broken in all the same ways, and doesn't really provide any more protection than a user-identifier-based system would.

@IzzyOnDroid@mastodon.technology @fdroidorg@mastodon.technology (Particularly because it's making misleading and unsubstantiated claims on its website about other networks being vulnerable to MITM, and fails to provide a concise answer to "how, exactly, is this more private than other systems with identifiers")

@IzzyOnDroid@mastodon.technology @fdroidorg@mastodon.technology FYI, that SimpleX thing looks very suspicious from a quick look, it smells of snake-oil to me

@luci @crashglasshouses@kolektiva.social Not on OSM anyway, OSM explicitly disallows imports from proprietary sources like Google Maps for copyright reasons :/

(Whether it's *illegal* is debatable, but OSM doesn't want to take the risk)

@crashglasshouses@kolektiva.social @luci My experience is that POI data on OSM tends to be quite out-of-date, because most companies don't publish their changes to it, they only submit them to Google :/

Terf antics, request

Someone in our neighbourhood has been putting up transphobic stickers, can anyone recommend a good source of trans-supportive stickers that I can replace them with, ideally UK based?
