@IzzyOnDroid@mastodon.technology @fdroidorg@mastodon.technology FYI, that SimpleX thing looks very suspicious from a quick look, it smells of snake-oil to me

@luci @crashglasshouses@kolektiva.social Not on OSM anyway, OSM explicitly disallows imports from proprietary sources like Google Maps for copyright reasons :/

(Whether it's *illegal* is debatable, but OSM doesn't want to take the risk)

@crashglasshouses@kolektiva.social @luci My experience is that POI data on OSM tends to be quite out-of-date, because most companies don't publish their changes to it, they only submit them to Google :/

Terf antics, request

Someone in our neighbourhood has been putting up transphobic stickers, can anyone recommend a good source of trans-supportive stickers that I can replace them with, ideally UK based?

@kescher @chemelia@eldritch.cafe Also yes, this means that you can make time estimates much more accurate by chopping the work up into <4 hour chunks and just tallying up the results

@kescher @chemelia@eldritch.cafe Interestingly enough this also seems to extend to "humans can't estimate how long work will take unless it's <4 hours of work" (but yes, 4 hours is basically The Productivity Limit outside of exceptional circumstances, even for most ND folks it seems)

tfw the central repo of the decentralized system (which you use because decentralized systems are like really uncomfortable to use maaaaaan) on which your decentralized systems code is hosted bans you for violating international financial sanctions

@maya Oh the stores themselves are fine here (at least the ones I've seen), it's really just the e-commerce side that's a total mess, which is all run from one centralized place. They give off every impression that they don't *really* want to be doing e-commerce, and had to be dragged into it kicking and screaming

@maya As in, almost every single online order I made with them had *something* wrong with the shipping or packaging, to the point that they shipped a nightstand in retail box, which arrived damaged, which I complained about, and they re-sent a new one *in the exact same way* which of course also arrived damaged in the exact same way...

@maya Ahhh, that's very different from here then :) IKEA NL seems to be hilariously bad at e-commerce logistics

@maya Living in a country where Amazon isn't really a thing, I'm actually not sure which is which?

@antonia Was it the one with all color bars linearly next to each other?

So I went to Pride in Amsterdam and I have to say it was pretty disappointing to see less trans flags than I saw at MCH2022 (also there were cops)

@bgcarlisle Ah yes, the delicious "cheese" snacks that have a composition so suspect that they might actually end up being unintentionally vegan

inverse grump, in defense of looting

Also, I'm fucking fascinated how long colonizers have been doing what they did with "lút," "woke," "cancelled," "identity politics," etc. which is to appropriate language of the colonized, load it with negative connotations or exactly invert its meaning, and then weaponize it against the people it was stolen from. It's a few hundred years past time to clock that tendency, I feel fucking vindicated in grumping about that
