@enby_of_the_apocalypse I never realized how weird my sleep was until I got a morning-person desk job and after a year or so could barely function at any time of day whatsoever
It's absolutely a form of violence to make non-morning-people have to adhere to that schedule
I'm seeing a lot of proclamations that there should be no exceptions to describing your images or that there's no reason to interact with any that aren't described.
I know these mean well, but they are themselves ableist.
Disabled people know that access needs can clash. I benefit from described images, but I know some people struggle to write them because of their own disabilities.
And that's okay! The culture of image descriptions is great here but it should never be absolutist.
@dragon I regret to inform,
physical appearance, parents
@kescher Similar here... even as a little kid, I never understood why my parents insisted on having my hair cut, it looked fine to me 🤷
physical appearance ++
@kescher I think it looks amazing tbh :D
FOSS Rec? (Help Wanted)
@eleanorkonik @Lindsaythelibrarian@scholar.social Hmmm. I'm trying to understand their business model, but the Pricing page links to an OpenCollective...? But they're hiring...?
Do you happen to know how this all fits together?
@kim @ln@chaos.social Honestly I'd unironically love to see a caffeine-free version of both
@kim @ln@chaos.social Hmm, I'd say that there are *some* exceptions to that - Monster Mango comes to mind (which definitely tastes more like juice), and Lidl's blackcurrant energy drink (this one might be specific to NL?) which tastes like more intense and slightly lemon-y blackcurrant soda.
@eleanorkonik https://thecorrespondent.com/541/why-we-should-give-free-money-to-everyone/20798745-cb9fbb39 comes to mind for me (though I'd originally read the Dutch version)
@oya Wait, what did I miss?
@DuckForTheDuck Ahzo.
I can't move to the Fediverse properly until I reproduce my famous pinned post from the birdsite, so here it is:
P.S.A. To all vintage computer and video game collectors:
Go through your collections and GET THE DAMN BATTERIES OUT!
Now! Don't wait! Seriously, put down the phone, go to your collection and take out all the batteries. Right now! Even if they look "okay" they are NOT SAFE after this much time.
@aeva@mastodon.social Well... they've been backpeddling already, offering "non-commercial" users the option to "opt out of the transition" and keep their old free plan with no billing "for the foreseeable future", so I think somebody over there finally woke up
Of course this is wayyyyyy too late and they've already lost the trust of everybody, and people seem to be using it mostly to get an extension of their migration timeline
In the process of moving to @joepie91. This account will stay active for the foreseeable future! But please also follow the other one.

Strong views about abolishing oppression, hierarchy, agency, and self-governance - but I also trust people by default and give them room to grow, unless they give me reason not to. That all also applies to technology and how it's built.
