@f0x I mean, that's honestly not that much? Assuming it's basically all the powertools :p

@Mirteaaa "Since the team is in the phase of applying for a patent, they refuse to share the components of their edible adhesive."

Welp, where ideas go to die

interviewer: can you explain the big gap in your employment history?
me: can you explain the big gap between what your CEO gets paid and what your workers get paid?

@f0x At what point does it just become one big intermittently-connected polycule, though?

it's not "data hoarding", it's opportunistic preservation

reminder that the economy is artificial and every death due to lack of housing, food, or medical care is an act of political violence

Mastodon 2.6 will introduce a new privacy setting, better suited for your most important toots.

Kartoffel. Die Pflanze heißt Kartoffel. (Verzweifelt aus dem Baumarkt gesendet.)

if you can get tackled, ziptied, and arrested by agents of the state for protesting the state without their permission, do you *really* have the right to protest? does it make it better or worse, knowing that *they knew* the charges wouldn't stick, and they just wanted to beat you and strip you of your humanity because you spoke out of turn?

environment variables are a shit way to provide extensive configs imo, especially if you don't use docker....

@aeva@mastodon.social I have no concrete data on how other hardware handles this, but I would *expect* a well-designed board to either prevent backfeed, or detect it and warn. Or at the very least be designed in such a way that backfeed doesn't cause mystery issues.

Wow, what the fuck Gigabyte. Apparently when my motherboard gets power backfeed via a dodgy DisplayPort cable, it doesn't like, warn me about it, or have any sort of backfeed protection.

Instead, it just starts being unable to reboot without a hard power cycle, *and* starts reading the CPU temperature as permanently -55C (no, that's not a typo), causing it to completely disable the CPU fan regardless of actual temperature... which was up in the mid-90s.

On top of their (shitty) fan curve smoothing option only being exposed via a crappy Windows app and not via the EFI.... yeah, I ain't gonna be buying Gigabyte again 😐

@Dee Ah yes, time, a frequent subject of disagreement between me and the general universe.
