@rando_khan Yeah - I also do freelance code review, and pretty much the only working "customer acquisition" model I've found is to get actual employees to recommend me to their manager, the same way that they would expense a piece of office equipment or subscription to a service
@welshpixie @schratze There's even a whole pixie town
@petrichor (If reading on a mobile device, try https://iomfats.cryto.net/storyshelf/hosted/geron-kees/ instead, which is my proxy that strips all site layout)
@petrichor I've been reading Chilling Effect (or well, by now the second book) by Valerie Valdes lately - maybe a bit more thriller-y than cozy, but a pretty easy read!
I can also *strongly* recommend pretty much everything by Geron Kees: https://iomfats.org/storyshelf/hosted/geron-kees/ -- especially the Charlie Boone series. It's more written for YA in some ways, but it's very intricate and comfy worldbuilding pretty much across the board, and also an easy read!
CW for mild sexuality, though. But their stories always make me feel better! Also they have a very particular writing style, where most stories start out reading like a 'normal' story without sci-fi/fantasy elements, but I can assure you that it doesn't stay that way :)
Something to consider when posting hashtags:
For people using screen readers, they know when to separate words either by spaces, or uppercase letters. 'mastoart' will try to be pronounced as one word, whereas 'MastoArt' will be pronounced as 'Masto Art'. It just makes life a little bit easier for those who rely on screen readers to interact with the fediverse ![]()
@kaasiand The temaki is calling youuuuu
@rando_khan Honestly, same. This is one of the few things I'd actually *want* to do as a job, but unfortunately it's also nearly impossible to find paying customers for it, particularly with an "I will only work on FOSS code" requirement :/
@aral Huh? I thought Firefox used system UI for input boxes and such.

@schratze Oh wow, I had no idea! Apparently not all laundry detergents are vegan either?

@schratze Wait. Really? What are they made of?

Tips for when you're requesting technical help:
Don't just say "I'm having trouble with this." tThat is 100% unhelpful. Provide /as much/ information as you can. Screenshots, error messages, everything. Be absolutely specific.
(Yes I am banging my head against a wall right now trying desperately to help someone with a problem but gosh I am not having an easy time of it, which sucks because I want them to not have a problem as I'm sure it's frustrating for them too :( )
#FediTips : Please don’t use “fancy text” in your display names, bios, or posts. Screenreaders can’t read these symbols as normal latin characters. Unless you want your name to be read as “mathematical script small I, mathematical script small R” and so on, use standard symbols in your display name.
In the process of moving to @joepie91. This account will stay active for the foreseeable future! But please also follow the other one.

Sometimes horny on main (behind CW), very much into kink (bondage, freeuse, CNC, and other stuff), and believe it or not, very much a submissive bottom :p

Strong views about abolishing oppression, hierarchy, agency, and self-governance - but I also trust people by default and give them room to grow, unless they give me reason not to. That all also applies to technology and how it's built.
