i absolutely love deleting code.

replacing things that are complicated and difficult with things that are simple and maintainable is such a nice way to spend time.

@rando_khan Honestly, same. This is one of the few things I'd actually *want* to do as a job, but unfortunately it's also nearly impossible to find paying customers for it, particularly with an "I will only work on FOSS code" requirement :/

@joepie91 Yeah, it's really difficult to sell "your system is now more comprehensible!" to people who mostly care about capability.

The other maintainers are probably very excited about the work, but finding folks who'll fund it is tough... one of those bad-incentive problems.

@rando_khan Yeah - I also do freelance code review, and pretty much the only working "customer acquisition" model I've found is to get actual employees to recommend me to their manager, the same way that they would expense a piece of office equipment or subscription to a service
