The Guardian Article, and Rochko irony.

THIS IS SO FUNNY AND IRONIC TO ME:

"Rochko said new users should scrutinize who runs a server before they join it: “Is it an organization that has a track record, is trustworthy, is likely to be around for a long time, but also has a moderation policy?” The “good ones”, he explained, “have rules against hate speech, and provide basic necessities like backups, so if one of the admins gets hit by a bus, the server does not disappear.” Rochko added that Mastodon includes a list of vetted servers on its homepage that meet these criteria. But it’s still a tall ask for a brand new user to figure these things out on their own."

Yes, you should scrutinize what server you join, and mastodon social, the one Eugen Rochko runs is one you should avoid. 🤣

If you know you know.

my boss is an asshole

I'm self-employed

i really gotta cut down on my Hetzner bill, especially with the new pricing dec 31st.. i have multiple servers barely doing anything but still around because i sick at actually decommissioning stuff

also funny to see that both with hackers and children, there's always some with the instinct to try and catch the drone

my greatest joy as an admin is adding custom emoji specifically for a one-of cursed shitpost

@lienrag It is not acceptable to not describe images of jokes. It excludes people.

This is a general problem: Abled people don't expect disabled people to participate in jokes and memes and shitposts, but we do. We don't want to be excluded from fun stuff our friends/peers are doing.

It doesn't ruin the joke to explain it; anyone who doesn't need/want to look at the description won't.

But even if it did, people matter more than jokes.
@guilevi

It's actually very weird how "software architecture resembles the org chart of the organization it was produced in" is pretty widely accepted and joked about, but "software resembles the bias and ethical values of its creators" is somehow controversial

waiting for paypal support because they lost my domain renewal payment..... not too urgent but still
