trying out a standing desk type deal and it seems like it might be nice, but also a lot of effort to do this properly

@ckie it used to be the homeserver of choice for alt-right to ban evade (or circumvent general ACL bans against their servers). Admin was either willfully ignorant or allowed them to do that

fuck i ran out of the nice comfy energy drinks and didn't get new ones when they were 50% off last week

work-

how can i do more freelance work if i don't even have the spoons to make a decent website/portfolio

So I went to Pride in Amsterdam and I have to say it was pretty disappointing to see less trans flags than I saw at MCH2022 (also there were cops)

Hey everyone, we’ve been playing around with markdown formatting and lightbox images in the GoToSocial laboratories this week.

Behold, the fruit of our labors! Below is an extract about sloths, formatted as a block quote thanks to the new Markdown functionality:

Sloths are so named because of their very low metabolism and deliberate movements. Sloth, related to slow, literally means “laziness,” and their common names in several other languages (e.g. French paresseux) also mean “lazy” or similar. Their slowness permits their low-energy diet of leaves and avoids detection by predatory hawks and cats that hunt by sight.

Wikipedia article about sloths

There are a couple pictures of sloths attached to this post as well.

If you’re reading this post from vanilla/non-Glitchsoc Mastodon, you won’t be able to see all the nice formatting, so please open this post in the browser to get the full effect :) And don’t forget to tap the images to check out the lightbox photo viewer!

@pho4cexa the project was in a rather early stage; git.pixie.town/f0x/waasig/

because wireguard works around network interfaces, I wanted to use systemd containers to separate those from different users from each other. NixOS would be a great fit to convert the user-facing configuration panel into deterministic systems + config for the networks, but I got stuck on some of the networking complexities with the containers

@pho4cexa as for static downtime pages, setting a custom 502/504 page in nginx usually works well

@pho4cexa oof this is almost a callout post for me :P

pixie.town has been running like this for multiple years now, with servers at home proxied through a vps with wireguard. I just haven't had the spoons to properly write about it other than one-off conversations.
I also got started on a project to allow the latter, sharing such a vps among hosters in a userfriendly configurable way but that too got stranded a while ago

libs loved walter white because he did the same thing they aspire to do, drive away and ruin their families and do absolutely nothing to change the greater system they said they were so against and trying to change.

@calcifer @protodrew@merveilles.town i've only used my framework with NixOS, but hibernate works reliably. The touchpad is also decent, I miss the top buttons from my previous thinkpad but it works well

One of my favourite dickhead things to do is to turn the lights out on my silent disco headphones and sing a song that's not playing on any channel and watch people trying to tune into it. Anyway,

@charlag @Stoori just post every time you read a page, if it's an ereader you can even automate that

the new lightbox / photo viewer thing implemented by @f0x for #GoToSocial is running on goblin.technology now

you can check it out here: goblin.technology/@tobi/status

(tap on the pictures)

with javascript turned on, you get this nice swipey viewer thing

with javascript off, it works just as it did before (images open in a new tab)
