If they want to cozy up to Meta despite decades of Facebook/Meta/Other big tech companies facilitating the erosion of countless people's safety on a global scale on one hand, and algorithming the most dangerous and harmful voices around into rooms together to radicalise themselves towards actual murder then so be it. It's a them problem now

@darckcrystale @kouett @joepie91 for sure, and I appreciate that, but I still expect glitch-soc will largely follow upstream, because they don't have the resources/intent to actual independence. This is already apparent by the wide public api access introduced in Mastodon 4.x (ignoring secure_mode) also being included in glitch-soc

It is pretty frustrating to see folks' credulity and craving for attention/importance being exploited in real time.
This whole 'meet with some admins and make them sign NDAs' thing reminds me very much of union busting tactics. You (megacorp) are picking out the chosen few who crave love from daddy corporation, and convincing them selling out is the best thing to do for their community. It immediately creates division and identifies weak points for strategic exploitation later on.
It's like, super transparent. Maybe we should be looking to anti union busting techniques to help us out here.
