In Internet slang, "lurking" means being present (e.g. on a mailing list, forum or chat) without participating yourself.
I'm curious: does "lurking" sound like something shady to you, or is it neutral?
I ask because the Dutch word 'lurking' means something different, and as such I always regarded it mostly-neutral - but the English dictionary definitions are all "shady", so I wonder what this is like for non-Dutchies.

@managingautie the really cheap no-temperature control ones *work* for basic stuff, but the pinecil is maybe twice as expensive and can both last longer and be useful for much longer. It's like the one good product pine64 makes lol
@pixouls about three? years ago I switched from Atom to vscode, easily found replacements for my used extensions at the time and it was basically immediately an improvement for me. Still use vscode every day, partly through code-server too

Last week I discovered that Akko - the mechanical keyboard manufacturer - had many Pepe stickers in their official Discord. I politely suggested this was an oversight and asked them to address this. I was banned from the Discord a few seconds later.
At that point I emailed support. No answer. I emailed again 2 days ago, asking why I was banned for bringing up their fascist-aligned images in their Discord and still haven't heard back. They were very responsive when I bought their switches a month ago.
At this point I'm not buying any more Akko products.

@ShadowJonathan@tech.lgbt technically authorized fetch slightly increases the amount of traffic toward your instance, but it's what prevents toots getting boosted to suspended instances which often ends up with shadow-threads if they respond to it.
With 4.x Eugen very much kneecapped the API security, given that search and json representation of toots are now always available to unauthenticated users
