With all new members we would like to remind you to make use of the CW (Content Warning) feature.

On your post box there should be a "CW" button which will enable a dedicated box for Content Warnings.

Our rule of thumb is that any content that would be awkward in public should have a CW. This will be enforced.

Unlike Twitter, your visibility will not get hurt by using CWs. Usually the opposite is the case as people will be more comfortable with boosting your content.

It’s July 1st 2023 & #Google has announced they will stop carrying Canadian news by this December, as they aren’t terribly fond of #BillC18.

Let’s assume you’re Canadian (or you just like beavers) & you’re missing your #news fix bc you’ve been relying on Google News or Facebook (I promise I won’t judge you!) So how do you get your local Canadian news going forward?

Well, good news everyone (ha!), getting your own custom Google-free newsfeed is actually easy, using something called #RSS.

I think the only thing I wanna put out there for newbies landing on fedi is not only do you not have to censor words to evade bots, algorithms and searcher arguments; doing so actively harms the ability of people who want to set up mutes OR enhanced notifications to do so on that content.

Yeah some people might have muted the word 'commission' because they don't want to be exposed to opening ads for whatever reason.

Please don't do that. You don't have to here. We're big on individual agency to see or not see what we wanna.

Looks like Bluesky is using a third party AI company ‘thehive .ai’ to identify post content for moderation — any data collected, Hive can provide to its other customers, to train generative AI models — so if you post your work there, it is being directly fed into training generative AI image/video/text 👎

I got a new reference sheet set up for my fursona Nova! Her previous one is actually over 6 years old at this point and doesn't really look like how anyone draws her anymore, so this is long overdue.

I'm not 100% set on the way I'm presenting the notes on the side but I think this is definitely effective for now.
