I guess I'm just constantly frustrated and at odds with myself because, like

I know AT can and has completely sidestepped the gross pandering shit in its sidestories and light novels, that's honestly why they're some of my favourites about the series

But I also know that doesn't excuse what's in the games and will not until the staff single out and decry those responsible for adding it, not to mention the very loud and representative voices in the community that condone it every waking chance they get

Why am I like this, it's one thing to like something while acknowledging its faults but in this case the faults are very very gross

I know they were obviously tacked on and can be divorced from the concept but just... ugh it's still bad and I wish I could find something with similarly extensive and in-depth lore that I could engage with instead
