How would you describe your opinion of the press coverage surrounding the possible railroad strike?
and yet, here's the thing: it's all made up. you can kill an important liberal and an important fascist and it'll make things just a little better. and you can work with your friends to support each other and hold on tight to one another, and make it a little more survivable. finding the people you love is self defense.
a thing about liberals. long rant
you ever think about how much pointless bullshit liberals do to justify positions that mean absolutely nothing. all the testing and polling and "getting into the weeds" of policy and white papers.
the money spent on advertising positions that mean nothing other than "nothing will fundamentally change," (Joe Biden's words, remember?).
the money freely given to grease palms with the richest. and the money tightly spent for the poor in ways that are either not even accessible, or in programs that have no tangible benefits for them. all the money spent to even, in plain and direct language, tell the poor to go fuck themselves.
the money spent to defend the powerful, freely donated to police departments and federal money to create evil federal agencies like DHS and ICE. (yes, I know Bush created DHS. But the Homeland Security Act passed the Senate with 90 votes. Fascists didn't do that all on their own.) and think, the money spent since then to create true monsters out of them since then. for their weapons and their salaries and their lawsuits and the price of a human life.
and the fundraising. the heart and blood of it. the constant need for a bogeyman to send voters into panic mode. sometimes it's created for them, sometimes they create it for themselves. remember when abortion rights were overturned? all that advertising after to "continue supporting women's rights." all that money spent to raise more money.
because it works. they rake in hand over obscene fist of money given willingly, not to mention all the money that already flows in and out of the beating heart of the beast of capital from industry. because the truth of it is that it's not pointless. none of it is. it's an elaborate ritual - not even to hide the beast, but to build its palace and allow it to live in luxury.
I mean the fact that I have to mention anything about performative allyship is like, kinda cruddy imo. if you're an ally just act like one, you don't need a special badge, there's like a million different things you can do to identify yourself as cool and decent and likely trustworthy
when people say "i'd like to apologize on behalf of my race"
hey also I don't know who needs to hear this, and I don't know how other POC feel about this, but please never apologize to me for the behavior of other white people. like, what? "Oh, as a white person, I'd like to apologize on behalf of my race."
like, if you've ever said that, take a second to listen to how that sounds. one, who the hell are you to speak for your whole people? and two, why are you defending them? yes, that's defending them. apologizing on behalf of them like they're your responsibility is such a strange thing to do. get mad AT THEM, and do it WITH ME, not for me.
please, it's so fucking patronizing. and! it feels pretty damn racist. both in the moment, if you're doing it in public or wherever, or if you're talking to me one on one. what the fuck kind of a thing to say is that?? why are you saying it?? when you say that, you're not telling me you're my ally, you're telling me you're theirs.
and last, it's just plainly uncomfortable to hear and I didn't ask for an apology from you. almost every time it's from someone who's not even remotely related to whatever racist thing happened. who are you? either do something helpful in that situation or don't bother me. there's so many other things you could say. like literally it's like you're making it about you. I don't care about your whiteness until it starts affecting me. begone, white fella
