@jk I have a similar experience with a first and second monitor, particularly on linux-y platforms.

@thegibson@hackers.town it is also rad as hell.

@thegibson@hackers.town I am both disappointed that it is not a place I can be yet and excited that it might inspire more places I can be.

Ty for the context! 💙

@thegibson@hackers.town this is awesome. I would like to order one large one, iced.

I would 100% like to be a regular whatever this thing is.

Say it with me: communities over technologies. (a soapbox)

If you're using a social technology, you're using it because of the contributions and humanity of your fellow humans. At their cores, every social platform derives its value from its users.

A technologically perfect platform is of no use without users you actually like.

Likewise, people on a technologically bad platform will only go elsewhere if the community at large is there.

Are technologically exciting platforms good and interesting? Yes.

But you should evaluate a social platform the way you would evaluate a friend, and not the way you would evaluate an operating system. Because you don't want a social platform that thinks for you, you want a social platform that helps you belong, shows you cool stuff, and helps you talk to humans you like.

Oh holy shit, these authors just drew a line between the moment-by-moment awareness/impermanence of mindfulness and its appeal to corporations who want us to internalize it so we don’t question their restructuring of workplaces with ever-increasing worker precarity. 😳

Proton mail, who claim they don't keep IPs, have handed the IPs of climate activists over to the French police. The activists had their homes searched and were arrested.

So the only way Protonmail is secure is if you use a VPN

No, your cryptocurrency cannot work

Explaining in understandable terms why Bitcoin uses so much power, why all these supposed 'alternatives' cannot fix the problem, how other coins are a scam, and how proof-of-stake is ultimately a dead end too.
