VERY hot take: Full disk encryption linked to a TPM or whatever with no password should only be enabled automatically by a system after there's also a provable automated backup system in place.
Reason being, no normal person knows what the fuck the implications of this is for retrieving their data from a fucked computer, and also nobody ever keeps backups. They just want their family photos back, nerds.
