When I was actively suicidal, most of the “support” I got was shaming me for being suicidal. Friends saying suicide is selfish & wanting to die means you don’t care about your friends. Therapists belittling me & threatening me with forced hospitalization if I didn’t pretend to be all better now & totally not still ideating every day at that point. Everyone around me was completely uncompassionate about it. No “that must be really difficult to cope with, is there any way I can help?” just “oh, so you’re just gonna off yourself then? What about me?” (last example was literal. Those are the exact words.)
I’m not suicidal anymore, thankfully, but not because of the alleged “efforts” any of those people made. All that treatment did was make me wanna die even more, because I felt like an evil person for being a kid with normal common responses to domestic abuse, & being suicidal.
The silencing of the topic only further contributes to this shame that makes people suffer quietly for years until one day they just can’t do it anymore. Not saying the word “suicide” because you don’t wanna get shadowbanned on tiktok is actively contributing to the demonization of suicidal people.

Also also, how saneist is it to make light of suicide by calling it “sewer slide” just so your true crime podcast won’t get sponsorship deals pulled? Suicidality is already an incredibly stigmatized & shamed condition. Suicidal people are incarcerated against their will in psych wards because they’re suicidal, as if the moment you want to kill yourself you no longer have rights. Shamed by friends & family, told “nooo don’t I’d be so sad if you died” any time they just wanna talk about what they’re going through & need someone to lend an ear instead of talking down to them. Their condition being made out like it’s actually about everyone else around them, & not their own experiences with it.
It just. pisses me off. Fucking say “suicide” if you mean “suicide.” It shouldn’t be such a heavy crime to be suicidal that we can’t even use the words to describe it.

If there's one thing I regret from my early political years, it's signing up for ActBlue bullshit. OMG, I kept making this mistake all the way until Bernie ran for the second time, and they auto-sign you up to EVERY fucking democratic campaign in your area, state, country, fucking planet... its forever too. You can unsubscribe, but they've already shared your info with thousands of other campaign orgs completely independent from whatever you signed up to support. Signed up to support Bernie? Well, I hope you care deeply about whatever Nancy pelosi is up to, and like, every person she's ever gotten brunch with is running for office somewhere too, and They. Need. You. Please, NAME, we need you. I'm taking on trump. I'm taking on the republicans. Please, bro, your money... please...
I haven't donated to an ActBlue thing in YEARS, and I deleted my account, but I will never get rid of the emails. At least I'm actively burning this gmail account soon, but I've been working on deleteing this thing for years, and I still get actblue emails... data privacy in the USA is fucking atrocious. I regret ever thinking Bernie could win...
Honestly the only reason I haven't deleted this account is I still have a couple of banking things I need to switch the emails on, but all the banking stuff is in the USA and requires me to fucking call them, in the US, and it's so hard to find the spoons and time... but these shitty actblue emails literally all comes from different emails and they spam me so hard it will fill up my email inbox and I'll have to clear them or I won't get new banking notifications because I refuse to pay for google services anymore. Ugh, this is such a pain in the ass...

(cost of disability benefits has increased significantly since the pandemic began) this is a consequence that the tories chose! they had several options and the one they went for was letting the population die and become overall more disabled!
