kernel review things

Uhh reply on my kernel patch. Did not yet get a reply because the reviewer is currently learning rust for proper review. That sounds actually very very good, and as I still have to write the other parts it’s fine to take some time

When people ask what it's like to work in gamedev I'm going to show them this post from now on.

My Fediverse Advice:

* Follow more people. No, even more people than that. Basically, if you find a real person and their posts are good follow 'em
* If you get a good reply to a post boost it. If you make a good reply to a post boost it. Replies are not visible in the feed unless you do this. As long as the post is an OK start to a conversation or interesting boost it.
* Write thoughtful replies. And if you put effort into a reply boost it or probably only the people tagged will see it.

Today I'm doing my first PCB repair, I guess? Someone's drawing tablet fell and ripped the USB connector straight off the board, pads and all, so now I need to resolder it to different points on the board

Does anyone here know about the name change process in Oklahoma?

I want to change my name, but when looking at paperwork I found online... it asked for my parents location/contact info.

I don't want the court to contact my parents. I don't even know what their address is.

I'm in my 30s. They should have no place in this process. Especially because my birth name is a subject of PTSD for me....

Help?

Seeing a lot of posts wondering what a white person can do to signal to people that they didn’t vote for Trump. This isn’t my idea, and I’m sorry I didn’t bookmark the original, but the absolute easiest thing is wear a mask 😷

A Trump voter wouldn’t be caught dead in one, and even if the right wing co-opts it (like they did with safety pins) it’s win-win - they’ll still be protecting community

A t-shirt that reads ‘Bring Back iOS 7’ in the thinnest possible Helvetica Neue, light grey on a slightly darker light grey shirt.

Is there such a thing as an anarchist library for topics *other than* politics? In other words, a collaborative collection of accessible and easy-to-understand texts about a wide variety of subjects that might be relevant to building community infrastructure, like gardening, maths, technology/engineering, repair, geology, health, and so on - but that are written from an anarchist perspective, with anarchist and collective values (rather than assuming capitalist goals).

There is something I want sighted people to understand about blind people. If you see a blind person heading toward a wall, tree, bench, or any other object they might bump into and potentially get injured, it doesn’t necessarily mean you should immediately try to pull them out of the way. It's completely natural to feel concerned, but a better approach would be to just warn them and ask if they need help. While there are times when it's actually needed, it might also be that they are going toward a landmark they use for orientation, and as unfortunate as it is, you might unintentionally get them confused and disorientated. I often purposely look for such objects to better remember the route, and not all places are accessible enough for me to be able to get back on track if I take a wrong turn. Your help and concern are really appreciated a lot, but sometimes things are different from how they seem, and that's why it's always better to ask first.

Related question: given the direction the world is heading, I am looking at possibly going back to running our own hardware in a physical rack within our local jurisdication, instead of renting capacity in the cloud.

I am familiar with the usual suspects, but perhaps there are folks with excess rack space on here, or with good suggestions for new players that started in the past 5-10 years?

Renewable power, in the Netherlands, at least 6-8U.

I'm curious, is anyone doing an open-source software cooperative?

CW-boost: thread about what really happened in Amsterdam, re: Israel and Palestine

Welcome to the Netherlands. This is our media creating reality.

Emigration is not a good way of avoiding authoritarian regimes. Sometimes its necessary, especially if the regime is turning violent

But emigrating from one authoritarian state to another will usually leave you genuinely worse off and being a foreigner in even a progressive state is always going to be a very vulnerable position.

Most countries will also outright refuse to give you a work visa if you are too old or disabled.

let's just say: western furries, go fucking clean your garbage inside your fandoms

The justice minister might be VVD but the entire government currently answers to Geert Wilders so the cops know they can get away with pretty much anything

friends, the consent machine for the Amsterdam police beating up people opposing the genocide in Gaza has been running full-speed so maybe avoid going to Amsterdam for the next couple of days if you can and if you must don’t wear a keffiyeh or flag pin and be ready to record video evidence if you encounter police hassling people including yourself

it's medication shortage season again, so I've done a bit more work on hrt-monitor, my hacky command-line solution for finding stock of the drugs you need at your local Boots pharmacy!

in particular, it now has instructions and somewhat of an actual interface! go take a look if you're in need of HRT (or anything else!) but can't find it :)
