Today was ... interesting. If you followed me for the past months over on the shitbird site, you might have seen a bunch of angry German words, lots of graphs, and the occassional news paper, radio, or TV snippet with yours truely. Let me explain.

In Austria, inflation is way above the EU average. There's no end in sight. This is especially true for basic needs like energy and food.

Our government stated in May that they'd build a food price database together with the big grocery chains. But..

The industry response to #unity has made me feel better about my own response as a nobody hobbyist.

OH you wouldn't download a cat ear

I just learned that my husband has possibly the most cursed WFH technique I've ever heard of:

1. He sets an alarm to go off every 30 minutes.

2. When the alarm goes off he checks his work email, makes calls, fills out forms etc

3. When he has finished whatever task he is doing he IMMEDIATELY falls asleep

4. The next time the alarm goes off he wakes up and repeats this process

It's like pomodoro technique for snorlax

The slow disappearance of public, free of charge, toilets is concerning and honestly simply not okay

I’m working the COVID unit.

The pandemic is not over.

Wear your damn masks.

A help resource for people making sexual/erotic/pornographic content.

Did you know I also maintain my own list of Good and Bad (for sexual content) Places? I've recently updated them include a social media section. Please share these around as much as possible. As far as I know these are the *only* list detailing the TOS of various sites and *services* w/r/t sexual content.

Thinking of the people (including so-called anarchists) who are vocally opposed to ableism, racism, transphobia, and other forms of bigotry, but as soon as they actually encounter someone vulnerable and fragile due to being harmed *by* that bigotry, they are completely unwilling to give them any room or benefit of the doubt

(This isn't just about the recent meta, it's something that is on my mind pretty frequently, and I'm not sure where to even begin addressing it)

Every YouTube video is either "all of science and the entire history of the world explained (5:41)" or "how player two's controller inputs are processed on level six of this japan-only game boy advance game that was only available free with a particular brand of cereal for two weeks in one store (2:37:21)"

judging by the shrinkflation in the snacks aisle at the store, sugar and flour is becoming ever more expensive, while plastic is becoming ever more cheap

Hello from my shift at the rural public library. While you're all debating large language models and AI and complicated online privacy topics, we are still storing our petty cash like this.

Now that a lot of people are regrouping from intense and embarrassing bouts of white fragility and white toxicity, if you are now turning to trying to help and support BIPoC and others directly impacted by the current Fedi meta bullshit, you may want to review this evergreen piece by Namira Islam Anani, about Silk's Ring Theory (how not to say the wrong thing to the wrong people): niawrites.medium.com/modifying

Please remember: This is a GUIDELINE. You will still be required to engage your critical thinking skills to figure out when's right to apply it, and how to specifically apply it to your situation.

But I personally have found the idea of Silk's rings to be very helpful both in the health and caregiving context and the effort of allyship/accomplicing to marginalized folks in general.

good day everyone ✨

@joepie91 I think it's one of those things where you have to pay them enough to incentivize them not to steal the money they're moving.

@joepie91 Funny saying in Spanish: el que reparte lleva la mejor parte. The one who cuts up the pie, gets the biggest piece. (Approximate, non-literal translation.)

Oh gooood, this whole #Unity3D blowout?

It literally happened because of that shitty Iron Source buy-out that everyone was pissed about. The call to add this fee literally came from the Iron Source side of the business, and it only exists to "kill AppLovin" (a rival ad provider that is better). mobilegamer.biz/unity-is-offer
