Saw another one of those "Why bother with men, women are better in every way!" posts and... Yeah, no? Like, framing gender essentialism in uwu lesbian isn't great, but also this is not the radical progressive sentiment it sounds like. Just ruin your transmasc friends' day for no reason, sure, but also... Men, they're cool and nice and deserve hugs and love, and the issue has always been patriarchy, not the entire fucking male gender?

Swedish Antifa researchers say they have got the list of everyone who's ordered from the neo-nazi web shop and will release the list on 10th August. mastodonsweden.se/@Krux_22/110

A marketing tactic I hate: someone releasing a piece of software with identical functionality to the software it's supposedly better than, with the only difference being that what was previously a plugin is now built-in

Entirely different codebase, incompatible with other stuff, usually a sketchy company behind it, not even any practical benefits from it being built-in, just... the claim of "with built-in X!", that's it

See: Brave, deno, various all-in-one JS build tools that claim to replace Babel...

Yesterday I was in Luxembourg where all form of public transit is entirely free. There were a ton of buses, the tram was packed, and it felt so great to just be able to go anywhere in the country without worrying. How I wish for the same everywhere else! #luxembourg #publictransit #trains #trams

How to get therapy (the thing where you talk to someone about stuff and then they nod for an hour) in Berlin without calling anyone?

I'm going to go on record by saying that the chumby is the absolute peak of consumer electronics. so it's an alarm clock, what's the big deal? but then you learn that it runs linux. and that it's carried almost entirely by flash player. and that ssh access is 3 taps away from the main menu. and that the toolchain is offered right from the official wiki. no other company would ever DARE to put out a device like this.

which is why I love the chumby. it's the exact antithesis to every single modern, locked-down "Smart Device" destined to become a paperweight in several years' time. this is a device that WANTS you to poke around. and it DOESN'T want you to buy a new one for some arbitrary reason. in fact, the servers for the chumby are *still running* after 15 years (granted, with a $3/mo sub), which is damn impressive for a 2008 IoT device constructed almost entirely on top of *Adobe Fucking Flash*.

...so it's a shame I only use mine to display a hacked hatsune miku clock swf

software companies tried to make us think sharing is actually bad, they called it "piracy" and "illegal", and it worked

It took the municipality 14 hours and 6 minutes to repair three wobbly pavement tiles in my street. I reported it yesterday at 20:15, today at 10:21 I got a push message from the municipal app it was repaired 😊

Sigh. I love* it when a project turns out much more complex than anticipated...

Story time.
My husband used to call me his bride before I came out as bigender, and when I did that I asked him to call me something less feminine. Bride + groom turned into "broom" and I thought it was hilarious so we kept it.
When I started dating my gf, she wanted to call me her mistress and I disagreed for the same reason. So now, man + mistress turned into "mattress". So I am now my husband's broom and my gf's mattress.

re: dreams

This was actually a whole lot more unsettling than it sounds - like, just making up and singing a song like that on the spot, in real-time, *is not something I can do*.

This is something that I realized *while still dreaming*, and at the same time I was pondering that it almost felt like it was being supplied by another person.

I also really hate that I don't remember the exact lyrics anymore, only the parts that I introspected on during my dream itself.

Well. what the hell? That's the first time I've had a dream that contained a *musical song*, and it rhymed perfectly despite using words like "patriarchy"?

"Briefjes in de brievenbus doen zagen we bij koophuizen al vaker gebeuren. “Maar bij huurwoningen heb ik dit nog niet eerder gehoord”, zegt woningmarkt-expert Peter Boelhouwer."

Nou, wat een expert is dat dan. Want hier gebeurt dat al jaren.
