rollercoaster stuff
So recently I went on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNzAy70ocss for the first time, and I eventually managed to do the entire ride (from lifthill to end) with my hands up in the air, and that definitely hit quite different (there are no shoulder restraints)
What open git platform do folks recommend? I'm tired of us getting screwed over by tech giants so looking into moving off of GitHub. I'd considered GitLab in the past but I'm not a fan of their AI focus and transmitting data from self-hosted installations to Microsoft. What are folks' experience with codeberg?
#poll please define "horizontal"
interesting results! so about the same number of people like the largest server, a cozy 20 user server, and a single-user server. 61% feel that >100 is best.
a lot of interesting comments in this thread about active users versus total users, and considerations about moderation capacity.
"People understood you just fine, they just don't agree with you" and variations on a theme, I guess
Tech dudes continuing to write entire articles about "federation copies your posts to other servers and that is what you should be concerned about, not about Facebook" as if it's some great misunderstood revelation that they are blessing the fediverse with, instead of people just having decided that it completely misses the point and not engaging with it for that reason
Like, guys, try to get the hint please
https://dotart.blog/dotart-blog/dotart-as-a-safe-space-instance
As we have a lot of new users here over the past few days, here's a blog post about dotART's community vibe and moderation style and how we provide a safe space for our users above all else, what that means in terms of our defederation policies, and the wonderful ability the fediverse grants instance admins to run their instances however they see fit :)
Meta snark
"This bad actor could exploit the many problems in the way that the Fediverse is implemented to gain access to your data, if they wanted"
Ah yes
Then I should definitely cooperate with them fully and gift-wrap my users' data and send it to them
This is obviously the logical conclusion
@KimCrayton1@dair-community.social Community has always been the anthesis of these systems because community connects us in ways that cannot quantify.
Whiteness has stripped people's sense of community away and replaced it with inadequate individualism, which is why they are so obsessed with us.
They want what we have because they gave theirs up.
Our survival was based on our collaboration, and that process became art.
In the process of moving to @joepie91. This account will stay active for the foreseeable future! But please also follow the other one.

Strong views about abolishing oppression, hierarchy, agency, and self-governance - but I also trust people by default and give them room to grow, unless they give me reason not to. That all also applies to technology and how it's built.
